Timing

I think my timing is off, my engine is trying to turn over but I don’t think some of the cylinders are firing at the right time and when I go back and look at the pictures of where my dist was before I took it off it seems that it’s been rotated about 90degrees from the original position, the photo without the intake is where it used to be and I’m not sure if it makes a difference but it looks like the screws and the plugs are in a different spot meaning the dist is in a different spot so could that be the problem?

courtesy of google I found this, and it was gonna bug the hell out of me to post it without any double check since the source didn't have years, makes nothing just ford 2.9 is all it said.... so I went out and popped open the hood of my '90... I checked exactly one wire and the orientation - my plug 6 wire points directly at cylinder 3 just like the picture:

that's the only check I made and I found this on google - not much more help than that.
If that doesn't fix ya, and you doubt the picture I can go check the other 5 in the daylight tomorrow.
My plug 6 wire goes around behind the back and is fiddle string tight - looks to be original, never been changed in the 30 years the family has had it.
