1996 2.3 5spd 171K I have searched this site for 2 hrs,my ???
Bought the truck last week ran great no problems.The owner for the last 100K only changed plugs,water pump,and alt,ps,ac belt..I pulled the cover back from the T-belt and it look sad/old,still ran great..
I set TDC pulled off TB cover and discovered the marks on the aux and cam shafts did not line up with the back of theTB cover,they were off about 25/30 deg to the left/ccw...
There was a marker dot on the cam sproket in the correct position..I rotated the crank twice and still the sproket dot lined up for TDC ??
Did some PO do something completely different????
Well I installed a new T-belt as per Haynes/and information from this site.I have changed Tbelts on 2.3 Mustangs. I lined up all the marks and put it back together...
Upon start up a tapping noise was comming from the valve cover,sounded like one valve not happy,shut down after 20 sec..HELP
