timing ranger

Working on 1996 ford ranger timing belt. I cant find any marks on the oil pump gear to line up. Does the timing of the pump matter? will it run with it not lined? I can see the marks on the other two gears no problem. Has 8 coils 8 spark plugs 2.3L 4 cylinder

I don't thisnk I cared about the oil pump gear, but last time I did mine was back in 2002.
