I JUST SWAPPED A BAD 2.9 FOR A NEW 2.9. EVERYTHING IS FINISHED ON IT EXCEPT FOR WHEN I START IT, IT SOUNDS FOR THE MOST PART ALRIGHT. WHENEVER I DRIVE IT DOWN THE HILL TO SEE HOW IT IS RUNNING I GET TO ABOUT TWENTY MPH AND THEN I HAVE NO MORE POWER. I HAVE HEARD THIS COULD BE WHEN I DID THE TIMING I DIDNT DISCONNECT THE YELLOW WIRE ON THE ECM. I DONT KNOW FOR SURE IF THATS THE PROBLEM, IF SOMEONE CAN HELP ME OUT. I DONT HAVE A MANUAL SO KINDA STUCK AT THIS POINT.

THANKS :icon_confused:KRLOCKE87STX

Stop yelling.

Find the little spout connector on the passenger side of the #3 intake runner and pull it out, then set your timing.

I have no idea why you would disconnect any wire from the computer.

im not sure this will help but it did for me.on drivers side fenderwell look for square electrical plug ,its a chip, unplug set timing and then plug back in and truck will then self time itself.sounds crazy but a ford official showed me and it worked perfect.hope it helped,

If you havent found it yet it looks similar to a in line fuse and it does take the computer out of the loop for ignition timing. Basically it throws it into limp mode with a fixed base timing. It will run like crap but it will get you home in an emergency.

no more power around 20mph sounds like a clogged catalytic converter.

WOW look at this 3 of 5 members are from the same area on the same general discussion topic
