so hear it is i have a 97 ford ranger with a 2.3 liter motor and i recently blew a head gasket....that said i just decided while i have everything apart i might as well do all the good stuff to it plug wires belts etc. well that being said i got all that on there and put it all back together and now i cant get the thing timed i know i know line up the marks how hard is it well there is a inch long piece broke out of my crank pully not were the belt rides but it just so happens to be the spot with the timing mark go figure right so i am ordering a new one of those cause no matter what i do ie facing the keyway straight up to the top of the motor and lining up the marks on the cam and the other pulley maybe a smog pump or something? that dont work tries to fire so i move the cam one tooth at a time in each direction till it runs worse then i go back the other direction i can get it to almost start but it wont well then i go back to original and rotate cam one full time thinking maybe it was 180 degrees out of time and repeat steps of moving one tooth at a time still dont work i am at the point were i am wondering if i moved that aluminum ring(the one the cps reads off) when i put the prybar in it to keep pulley from moving while i was taking bolt out of crank and that may be why it isnt firing i dont know i am just out of ideas....owe and on top of the whole thing i get in to push the clutch and break in and my pedals brake off the aluminum bracket so i am just stressed to the max any help or suggestions would be appreciated
