Welp, what was supposed to be a quick weekend AC compressor and condenser replacement and front crank seal has now turned into me pulling my engine. Not 100% sure of what I'm doing but we're gonna learn as we go, and no I will not be taking this to somebody else to do, I am doing it myself. Since I'm pulling the engine I'm going to be replacing the cassettes and front timing chain or whatever the hell the name for all the chains are, any recommendations for links on what brand replacements I should buy for those? I was looking on ford parts and was trying to find a kit but not sure if they sell one as a whole so any recommendations on some quality replacements would be greatly appreciated. Piggy backing off that question, anyone who has done the whole timing chain fiasco replacement, do you have a whole list of parts I should replace while I have the engine out because you might as well since it's out? Any parts lists or advice would be greatly appreciated as I am aiming to get this done hopefully in 2 weeks. I have the 4.0 SOHC by the way. Thank you everyone!

I so hate to say this but.....try doing a search as I have seen the lists of tools and parts you request.

There's a guy, fordmokoloko (or some such name) who has great 4.0l S.O.H.C. videos including a series of 3 pertaining to a rebuild

Sounds good, I ended up doing research after my post and found him and have been following him. I’m redoing a lot in my truck right now and making sure I am using quality parts where necessary is my top priority right now, I’m using fel-pro for most of the seal and gaskets, but for timing chains/casettes, is mailings a good brand or should I just get motorcraft ones? Piggy backing off that question, since the jack screws are torque to yield, does anyone know what what the part numbers for those bolts are and if there are any other torque to yield bolts I should be aware of? Thank you!

I believe the company is "Melling(s)". It's a crapshoot now whether great brand names like Melling are any good anymore. Too many are trying to compete in cost with overseas or have moved manufacturing there without enough quality control.

Well shoot, so should I just buy from motorcraft instead? Because Melling isn’t cheap, like the full kit I was looking at was like 400 bucks

I don't know. Sorry.
Whichever way you go, check it over very carefully, tho I know without experience you won't really know what you're looking at. In that case look at fit and finish. Test fit before torquing. Don't be afraid to file fit if necessary. I had to do that to an oil pump where the flashing was interfering with fit. There is lots of fake parts out there too.

It’s a shame that names that used to stand for quality don’t anymore. I was just having a conversation with my parts guy recently and he said that they were having a problem with FelPro gaskets for one of the hybrid vehicles. There’s gaskets were junk and didn’t fit right. Used to be they were THE brand to get for gaskets but he said now not so much. Some vehicles yes, some no. I’m guessing the gaskets for the older vehicles are probably still reliable but new stuff not so much, because he said they’ve had a lot of problems with gaskets on the like 2015+. Still makes buying parts a crapshoot. And that’s not even counting the fakes on the market.

The problem with getting the Motorcraft parts is that Ford does not seem to offer a kit with everything in it. At the dealer you would have to get each part individually, and guess how that affects the total cost! Cha-ching! If I have to get the timing chains done in my 4.0, I would probably go with the Cloyes kit, but with Motorcraft tensioners to replace the ones from Cloyes.

I used all OEM parts but searched the internet for a Ford part supplier that had reasonable prices. I did pay a little more than the Cloyes kit, but I have peace of mind on the parts durability. I did install a Melling high flow oil pump but that was the only thing that was not OEM. That was over 60K mile ago and have not had any problems with the cam timing chain system.

you should replace the rear main as well you will regret it if you don't
