timing chain cover leak

My timing chain cover gasket is shot. My ? is do I have to change the oil pan gasket to? Has anyone tried it with there front axle removed it looks like it would be pretty easy if the axle was out?
 
you dont have to replace the oil pan gasket...it should seal back up.

some say you can snake the oil pan out just by unbolting the motor from its mounts and jacking it up....but i still think it'd be easier to remove the transmission first.
