Timing belt repair question(s)! URGENT!!

To my knowledge, the fuel pump isn't part of the timing. The timing basically consists of timing the following: The crankshaft, camshaft(s), and the auxillary shaft (which turns the oil sump). Fuel pressure and the fuel pump are controlled either by the computer, or by engine vacuum.

If the truck has a distributor then that shaft must be lined up with the # 1 position on the distributor...but it can be adjusted a bit to advance or retard the timing. Fuel injection systems that have a distributor have the same requirement.

Both are unnecessary. As long as the rotor on the distributor is lined up with the #1 spark plug electrode on the distributor cap, then the alignment of the auxiliary shaft doesn't matter.

(Edit: Now it seems that I didn't fully catch that Mark_88 kinda said that, but just not as clearly.)

It does matter on the '94+ Lima engines, their timing is based off of the crankshaft position sensor and the camshaft position sensor; the latter of which is the exact same as the camshaft sprocket.

no cam sensor until mid '94 so that pulley doesn't matter for '89 to mid '94.
