I am tryin to get my ranger to run it turns over and all but I think the timeing is off how do I correct my timeing?

I'd suggest first checking to make sure that the timing belt is still intact. You can, gently, pry the cover away and see if it's rotating while some one else cranks the engine over. Next on the list would be to check if you have spark either by using a timing light or pulling one of the plug wires.

the timing belt is intact I know this because I just replaced the head gasket, the engine wants to turn just won't cuz I the timing is off I think

OK, stupid question time, did you have it running for any length of time after changing the belt?

Pull the distributor cap and see if the rotor is spinning. If so, and your sure the coil is firing correctly. Then you'll have to turn the motor until you have the number one cylinder at TDC after the compression stroke. Then rotate the distributor until the closest vane is just crossing the gap in the pick-up. That should get you close enough to start the engine.
