Hi-This is probably a common question and answered here before but I can't find a thread.
I have an '86, 2.3L, EFI, 5 speed Ranger. A relatively new Jasper engine with 4K on it. I did a compression test the other day (I'm a bit obsessive with taking care of it) and a vacuum gauge test (1st time ever). Results: 21-22hg, comp.-190, 185, 195, 190.
It runs great but I keep hearing, at low speed or idle, a slight ticking engine sound reminiscent of valves or lifters from my truck for many years prior to the rebuild. I just starting noticing it recently and am wondering if it's always been there and am just paying attention to it now, or it's a common characteristic of my type of engine. Is it just me as all seems fine?
Any thoughts? Thanks
