In Orange County, Fl.......tickets issued through the use of red light cameras are NOT official traffic citations, but the ticket still costs as much. This is because all the assholes who normally drive aggressively, bitched, pissed and moaned and they did this to appease these idiots.
No points or the need for traffic school to keep the points off of the license.
As far as I am concerned, red light running should be a $1000 fine and 6 points.
The only people who should be against these cameras are the habitual offenders.

Doesn't everybody? Lol well I do THE speed limit not under. But cops are brutal in south Texas, and the drivers are terrible especially Mexican nationals, they have no clue what the laws are. Anyways so if you pay it, your fine? Then pay it already, suck it up. If your gonna fight it then get a lawyer, otherwise let your mom cover your ass. Not many options but that's the name of the game. When I got in trouble and wasn't allowed to drive I sucked it up and got rides. For over a year! Sucks but do what you gotta do.

I know it sounds bad we are getting way off subject here….....I see people every day run stop signs near my property. The same people every day. I am sick of it. They zoom out of their street ignoring the speed limit of 25 mph and just run through every stop sign. They do not see the sign? They have kids in the cars and then the teens are doing it as well. 'Mom and dad do it...I can do it'. If some idiot runs a stop sign or a red light and causes an accident, then that person should be fined a lot of money. If they cause a death...they need to lose everything...no driving privileges and a stiff jail time should be the sentence. Just like idiot DUI drivers who kill somebody. Every day I see this and I know that one day one of them are going to whip around a stop sign and hit somebody walking their dog or kids or somebody on a bike. And it might even be their own kid they kill.

I'll stick my two cents in. From what I've read. Red light cameras are run by a private company for the city or whatever. A private company cannot issue a traffic ticket. A civil judgement is issued againest you. For those that approve of red light cameras. What triple A found was that by increasing the time the lights were yellow acceidents were reduced.

In Iowa, it goes against the plates....not against the driver...they can't prove who was driving it so they can't punish you for something u can claim u didn't do.

7 months is average jail time for a drunk driver killing a person. not exactly a stiff jail time.

We had a city here in the early 90's that started using "photocop". They fitted a 4 door S10 Blazer with a camera, and it would take pictures of you and send them in the mail along with your ticket. Some citizens took it to the court and won on the basis of it being "entrapment". I think red light cameras fall in the same category. I don't condone red light running however.

Funny side note about the photocop is, some people got busted being cheating on their spouses from the pictures that were sent out.

Big Brother suxxx as much as the people who run redlights cause they're too important to stop for 45 seconds....

We had a city here in the early 90's that started using "photocop". They fitted a 4 door S10 Blazer with a camera, and it would take pictures of you and send them in the mail along with your ticket.

They do that here as well, the city has a red 90's Jeep Cherokee with kc's on top...very noticeable and it works the same as the red light cams or the speed cams on the interstate....when they first started using it, people went up and put cardboard over the windshield so the radar gun wouldn't work lol.

People around here would bend their license plates to be angled up trying to make it harder to read. The photocop also had a flash, so you knew you were had right then.

I got the flash one time in my 79 Audi, but I had no front plate. They had that little flaw in their plan.

I have mine in my windshield because I'm too lazy to get a new holder lol (they are like 20 buck for a piece of plastic!!) anyway, the one here has a camera out the back as well i believe, so it gets u either way.

Ours lasted from 1991 until 1996 or so. It was pretty primitive technology compared to what they have now. I was just doing a walk down memory lane as I read several people's thoughts in the archived newspapers (the internet rules). People were boycotting the city because of it. I lived there at the time, so I couldn't exactly boycott.

it really is, but its got the advantage of being a different place at anytime. they often set it on streets that change from 45 down to 35 for a mile or so and get aa ton of offenders. the cool thing about ll the cams in my city, are that you can go online and look at the database to see who has gotten a ticket what it is for, where and when it was. If you live in the city, it's no big deal cause you just slow down for the light/camera then drive as you were. Patrolmen still sit on the highway where are cams are at to get the people who speed between the cams tho.
