unable to find one for the 4.0 ( all i can find are for the 3.0) anyone know if the 3.0 one can be used on the 4.0? have a mass air adaptor/ k&n air filter already from from current setup..any help would be appreciated thanks

dont bother man. The most useless thing i did for my truck was buy a intake system (k&n adaptor kit) With a 275$ price tag, made the exaust tone have a little more richness. If you allready have an aftermarket kit i would stick with it.

DO BOTHER! Listen from someone who has TWO thunderbolt boxes!!

The best intake i've had by far is the Thunderbolt intake. The filter is fully enclosed, away from engine heat. I've seen the coolest(temp wise) numbers of incoming air via my scan gauge using this box. DO IT!! I've had the K&N FIPK intake(w/ plastic tube), the MAC intake(w/ steel tube), and the SLP/Roush Thunderbolt(w/ stock rubber tube). Best results of the three: Thunderbolt w/ stock rubber tube.

Unfortunately, it is not being produced anymore, so it's out of production/discontinued....finding one might be difficult. Only works on 03 and older rigs i believe. The 3.0L box WORKS on a 01-03 4.0L SOHC MAF, as that's my engine and i've got the intake.

Take a look at this thread of mine.....i made the intake better...eliminated the factory 'crush' tube that compresses under engine load(you can feel it).

when you say "the best results of the 3" wtf does that mean? Cause if your going to talk a bias opinion on how you felt a gain in hp and torque you deseve the fact that you bought 3 intakes ahahhahahahahahahhahahahahaha

best results via incoming air temp via my scangauge and 'pedal feel'. Unfortunately, All i was out on those intakes was a cleaning kit and the thunderbolt box($40 shipped). The others were gifts. All the others had new filters, not dirty ones that would contribute to the added 'power'/'pedal feel' when a new setup was installed.

rather than drawing in hot engine bay air with an open filter, this one is shielded from engine heat. Sure the box gets warm, but not scorching hot like the open filters would get. On top of that....it's pulling cool air from the stock location into this shielded box. I regularly see 10* less than ambient with my current setup. I was lucky to get ambient with those others...

You forgot to show us the icebox.

This is BLATANT BS. It's impossible for you to get less than ambient, unless you cheat by wetting the element (with water!) first, OR you draw a vacuum (i.e., that filter is a s**tbrick).

And I get ambient at WOT with my stock box. It's not very hard. Almost every vehicle does that (even ones with heat stoves, and even those with heated intakes are not far behind).

can't the iceman anywhere ( when i was doing a honda i thought they went belly up?) considering doing this or wrapping the headers ( hopefully lower underhood temps alot)
