When the Ranger shifts from 1st to 2nd, it does so with a thump...like there's no transition time whatsoever in the shift. It's been doing this since the day I got it Labor Day 2004 with 72K miles. Tranny was flushed at that time.

What causes this?

i.e., what tranny component governs the "hang" time between 1st and 2nd gears??
