well here is a simple yet wierd question for everyone w/ a 2.3: do they make a larger throttlebody for it? i want a lil more power output for pulling hills and seen the intake plenum is huge, the intake ducting is fairly large, but why only a 2 inch throttlebody? anybody experimented w/ this or tried to put one on? would putting a larger tb on help the 2.3 any? just curious since i was looking around under the hood and wonder what i could do to help some. do they make underdrives as well? would that be worth the money or a waste of time? thanx for all replies.

as far as i know these 2.0/2.3/2.5s are mainly restricted from there heads, a bigger cam and some porting is like the best start point for waking these up everything else just wont work like it should with such small headflow

i see well since its my dd im going to be tearing the head off anytime soon. just fig i would ask if any bolt ons would help. i have a conical filter installed (was going to see if i could find one that fit in the airbox but to no avail and i had a crinkle in the silencer that caused a hellacious vacuum leak, hence the reason i bypassed it in the meantime) and my exhaust was plugged so i put two fart cans in line just for shits and giggles (they were laying around so free fix) and it seemed to help some, anything was better than the way it was running to be honest. i know that rockers and underdrives help the 3.0, and some have installed larger throttlebodies, just wondered if the same type thing would work on a 2.3. since a 2.3 is sohc not ohv obviously theres no rocker upgrades to be had, so higher lift cam it would have to be, not spending that kind of money at the moment either. (just wanted to clear up that im not a complete idiot.) thanx for the reply, any other input is appreciated as well.

you did take the silencer out of the intake tube?that helps a little.Make sure you have good plugs in it,timing belt belt not stretched out.You can get a bottom pulley off of a early truck that had A/C on it.they had a little smaller dia.pulley on it.If you do a search for it somewheres on here I posted a part number. If you are running a lot of electrical stuff ,dont do it cuz it won't charge enough

it used to have a/c, previous owner cut it. timing belt and exhaust are next on the list when i have more $$$. i temp made an exhaust but it fell off again today... new plugs wires coils cleaned maf and new battery/cable ends. have no radio and the only thing electrical i run besides the motor is the lights, which get dim on occasion, looking into recharging the battery and checking alternator output. somesorrymuthaf stole my tools out of my trk this wknd and took the cd player and cds out of my other project trk, so i took the project trk to a safe location and really need to find some doors for this thing...
