So recently bought a 2007 Ranger XLT 4X4 and I'm liking it other than the fact that i feel like it has zero power at all.....I don't know if its just me or something but i feel like I'm pressing the gas pedal all the way to the floor to get it to go anywhere. it will get up to speed and everything but not anywhere quickly. I've drove other trucks and mine seems like its was under powered for some reason. And my pedal is super easy to press down till you get 3/4 the way down and then it gets super stiff......any thoughts and or suggestions? i know these 4.0's aren't the most powerful thing in the world but seriously it should have more power than this.

Might be normal... what's zero to 60 time? Videos of it under acceleration?

It might just be me because i went from a 2007 grand prix 3800 v6 which was quick.....is there anything i could do to help it get up and go easier?? i don't need it to be a drag truck or anything but little things that could help it get up and go would be great!

That might just be you missing power then... something that can help is the throttle cable mod (zip tie on the throttle cable on the pedal end to get rid of the slack that occurs over time)

Ut won't give you more power but if you floor it it opens the throttle wider and it feels more responsive when driving

well guys i think i found part if not all of the issue.....my throttle cable was stretched just enough that my pedal was not engaging like it should and had play in it.....long story short i pulled the slack out and put a zip tie on the cable to hold it! Drives a lot better and actually has some balls now and will get up and go like a normal vehicle! thanks for the help! :yahoo:

Glad to hear it!

It makes a world of a difference, especially with autos it makes the transmission shifts feel much smoother.
