On my 1994 Ranger I looked at my throttle cable plastic and noticed it's cracked in a few places and where the plastic keeps it against the throttle body is breaking down. One plastic clip is already broken off and the other is looking ready to give out. How can I fix it before it completely breaks and does anyone know where I can get a new 4.0 throttle cable?

Another post, we are getting a lot of them lately, about parts that are discontinued and unavailable anywhere. It's getting worse and worse out there.

I believe the number you need is F1TZ-9A758-F

I ended up having to buy a used cable online for $100. No 4.0 Rangers at my local junkyards still had throttle cables. I found a 97 Explorer with cable intact and it looks extremely similar to the old Ranger one but the part that connects to the throttle body doesn't stretch out as far as the old cable. I gave that one a try first and my truck revved up to 4000 RPM before I turned it off. The cable I bought online came off a 96 Explorer and is identical to the Ranger cable. Listing stated compatibility for all 4.0 Rangers and Explorers between 91 and 96.
