I have a 2003 ranger 4.0 sohc, and i've only been able to find up to a 2002 throttle body, now i was wondering if the 02 would fit on my 03 because as far as i know most of the parts are the same between the 2 years. i got a MAC cold air intake for an 02 ranger that fit like a glove on my 03 so why not the throttle body? anyone know whether itll fit or not? thanks!

I would assume they're identical, but I'm not sure. The question I have is why you need one in the first place....

It's obviously because he has money burning a hole in his pocket and need to buy a truck part to make himself feel good about his truck.

Frankly the money spent on a bigger TB for a 4.0 engine would be better
spent on CD's at his nearest music store.

Playing the right music will make your truck seem faster.

I personally recommend some Disturbed or early Metallica.
though Megadeth works well too...

And if you are into it some of the better "hair metal" can work well. (Great White or Dokken)

If you REALLY aren't into music go to walmart and stock up on underwear and socks.

There isn't a guy alive that can't use more underwear or socks
(Running out of underwear or socks determines when you REALLY must do laundry)

Then again Levis aren't likely to get less expensive over time either.

Point is there is tons of other stuff that is a better way to spend money than on a larger TB.

Of course you could take your girlfriend on a shopping expedition to Victoria's Secret, that's a gift that tends to give back...
but leads to shit that's even more expensive... like shopping expeditions to jewelery stores.

Thank you AllanD for turning a truck related question into a clothes and shopping related answer.

I'm not raggin on ya, I got a good laugh out of that and you are right.

Hamartia1 did your throttle body go bad somehow or are you looking for a "high performance" one? If it went bad then I can understand replacing it, in which case an 02 would probably work. If you're just looking at it as an upgrade then don't bother. Bigger throttle bodies will only increase performance noticeably if you've done major engine work such as boring cylinders or porting heads etc.

I would return that MAC intake!!!

All it will do is make more noise, it will not improve performance or MPG!!!

You obviously didn't realize that the OEM intake was a cold air intake!

I've heard about you and your "OEM equipment is the best and no other comes close" crap.

Exactly!!! Sorry to hear you don't know any better, and you get sucked into the aftermarket performance mod BS!!!

I've said it before and will say it again.

Most of the "mods" people do on their trucks is somewhere between
turd polishing and mental masterbation"

I always love the PLASTIC "customizing" stuff,
(usually made in china) that people put on their
truck to make their truck "unique".

I remember the first time about five years out of high school
when I saw the first Toyota 4x4 I ever saw with (drum roll please)
all the trim (and wiper blades) painted Day-Glo PINK.
and the truck was driven by a GUY.... (with a cute girl beside him)

How's this for a quote that surely someone will use as a sig:

If you didn't use a Saw, Torch, Drill or welder to make it
(or make it fit) it ain't custom.

Frankly I can count the parts that are original on my truck with
my Fingers AND I will have enough Fingers left over to punch
the crap out of some snake oil salesman at PepBoys for trying
to sell me some plastic POS that won't do ANYTHING he claims
it will.

Just Say NO!

BTW, I don't think Bob is saying "leave it stock"
My truck is nowhere near stock.
But I used mostly factory parts to accomplish that effect.
Though granted not always parts from Ranger.

But my truck LOOKS stock until you start looking close....
and even then 2/3 of the time I have to point out the differences.

well I'm beginning to think the throttle body is starting to wear because i hear a funky whistling sound whenever i accelerate, and as for getting the MAC intake, it was mostly JUST to make more noise, i read a lot of posts on the forums and completely understand the fact that my trucks OEM intake would work just as well as this aftermarket part, but I figured that if i had the cold air intake, a new MAF sensor, headers n exhaust, and then bought a performance chip, id get the most out of my truck with the combination of all the parts i put in.

The only aftermarket "bolt-on Mod" part that I can honestly endorse is a set
of GOOD tubular manifolds.... aka "headers"

and By "good" I mean avoid the thin JUNK like Hedman and Pacesetter.

Borla, Gibson or JBA are all good, but the price will turn your sphincter
into a serviceable cable cutter.

Worry abput a "Catback" only AFTER you have headers, because until you DO have headers the catback isn't the point of greatest restriction in the system.

The stock mufflers flow pretty well, the issue with "Stock" exhausts is CHEAP
aftermarket replacement mufflers.

after that the greatest "bang for the buck" performance improvement isn't inside the engine bay, but inside your axles... your gears.
