does anyone know what the stock size throttle body is on a 1998 ford ranger 3.0 engine? or is there a way to tell? mine is has worn out by the shaft and leaking bad.

By leaking, you mean you're getting the lean codes, P0171/174 due to a vacuum leak around the shaft? Likely less than 70 mm. I see American Muscle has aftermarket TBs for the 4.0 and they are all 70 mm. I recently put a new one on my 07 Mustang. Have the old holdin down the garage floor at present. If I get a chance, I'll see how it compares to the one on my 98 3.0 Ranger.

Tb is 52mm and there are little Orings on the throttle shaft IIRC. A composite manifold is easier to swap an escape 60mm onto, but a bit more work.

Here's a picture of an original 52mm I was grinding on versus the 56mm BBK I found, I don't have a 60mm sorry.
