Was trying to clean my throttle body and IAC this morning.. Got the IAC clean but I can't get the hose that is connecting to the throttle body to even budge. Is there a technique to getting it off without destroying the rubber?

here is a pic so I can clarify what im talkin bout

thanks for your help

I haven't messed with a 3.0, but the rubber intake tubes were pretty tough on my 2.3 and 4.0 ranger engines. I would just lean on them perpendicular to the tube as close to the throttle body as possible. This way you are pushing sideways against the tube.

Another thing to try is removing the MAF side, then you can twist the whole thing to break the stickyness.

Funny thing about hoses, In my experience pulling them straight away from whatever they are stuck on causes them to get tighter on what your trying to remove them from.

Yea sometimes when you pull straight its like a chinese finger toy, do what alaskanrider said or slid in a flat screwdriver and pry around it, you will hear that sticky start unsticking.

Screwdriver/hose pick and work around it. It'll come off, its hard to hurt too.

A quick and messy way to loosen up a hose is to pour hot water over the hose. Though I mostly use hot water to soften up a hose. It could work either way. Also , since my s DDs are 25 yrs old, my Ranger is 6 yrs newer. The aluminum hose nipples get corroded . To fight this, I coated the nipples with Permatex Aviation Forma gasket. I forget which #, I have 2 a thin one you brush on and some thick stuff in a tube. It never hardens. It acts like tar, but is gas, oil and waterproof. Another thing it does is to insulate steel bolt threads passing through aluminum . I discovered this when I replaced the water pump just because I was doing the timing belt It had been in for 8yrs/120 k miles. A new GMB pump was 35$ I had 330k miles on it. A blown pump bearing isnt something you want on your commute. Especially with aluminum heads. Anyway, that pump came out like I had put it one the day before.. Every time I have to replace a hose or a pump, the nipples get gooped. I use very little RTV on my stuff. It doesnt mix well with tiny passages.

Thanks for the responses. Tried pulling it straight off will try this week to twist it after I disconnect the Maf. Can't be that hard right
