Hey guys, I have a question or two about "Thread Traffic" if there's such a thing or term for it. Basically i have a lot of threads I want to post about different topics of my Ranger but I don't want to crowd up the "New Post Feed" if that's a thing. I'm worried I'll be posting too much that most won't be interested in like beginner things and those are the last threads people want to see listed back to back.

Post away...

Try to put your new posts in the correct forum... we can move them if necessary.

I'm mostly putting everything in general. Still learning how to categorize. Hopefully I don't give you guys too much trouble.

It’s better when you break them up. It makes it easier for the next guy trying to fix an issue to find the problem and the fix.

The only exception is build threads. It’s easier to follow a build or restoration project if it is lumped all in one thread.

Yes, please!

You can't really control what goes on the new posts feed, unless you just don't post. Any new post (since your last visit IIRC) on the forum is going to pop up there and you shouldn't worry about that. FWIW, I haven't looked at the new posts feed in years. I open to the main page and look through the sections that interest me.

As for categorizing threads, look at the main forum page and post in the most fitting subforum. If it's an engine issue/question post in the forum for that engine. Transmissions in the transmission forum. Now if it is something that concerns both the engine and transmission, you would be better off posting in the engine section. Pretty much same stuff for everything else.

I see a lot getting dumped in the following sub forums that shouldn't be:
Those are not intended to be used for technical discussions. They were created to show off the work you're doing on your projects.

I'm a culprit. I thought I was supposed to post under 83-11 Ranger mini trucks.

That's what I began to do in my "Seafoam?" thread then thought the title was misleading and so it's when I asked if there was a sort of post limit.

You're doing fine. It is appreciated to try and choose the most appropriate sub forum.

Don't worry over it; if you get out of line, the Forum Moderators will sneak up to your house in the middle of the night, and paint your engine ORANGE and put bowties over your Ford emblems. That's worse than waking up to a horse's head in your bed.

Carry on.

I know, you aren't the only one. I've been doing good and biting my tounge, but since it came up in a thread about the subject...

I don't see anything really out of place about your Seafoam thread. There's not really a better section for discissions about cleaners like that, while it did drift to electrical and light bulbs, it's still discussing Seafoam as well. You started the thread to cover a topic, after that you've got no real control over where other posters take it. Some drift in a thread is natural and to be expected, some times it's intentionally steered off course by other people ( :stirthepot: ). Not much you can do about either.

Post limit, is that supposed to be like a speed limit? Just take a look at some of the post counts vs join dates. No way there's post limits around here. No mimimum post limits around here either, that's why quiet people like me and @RobbieD can still be members. Even if I had retained my post count from before the switch (2000-2007 time frame) I would be half of what Uncle Gump has posted in the last 6 years.

Nah, they aren't going to sully their hands like that. They have people for the dirty work. If you mess up too bad, you won't see us them coming.

I'd swear someone just said I talk too much...
