I work for a ski resort in the Sierra Nevada's of Norther California and have been commuting to work in my 88 Ranger 4x4. Truck does wonderfully in the snow, but today, he got to be a hero.
Some not so bright skier ignored the Chains Required sign as he traversed down the road in his late 90's Corolla. Slid on the ice and ended up in the plowed snow berm. I decided to stop and lend a hand. I started by digging him out a little, but quickly realized that he was going to need to be pulled out. I hesitated to offer up my pickup at first because he's got about 200,000 miles on him, but I couldn't let this couple from San Jose sit for a couple hours to wait for the tow truck and pay $300 to have them pulled out. I grabbed the tow rope I happen to keep in the cab and hooked up to him. I'll be dammed if that little Ranger yanked that Toyota outta the snow... on a sheet of ice!
I love that little truck even more now. It was a small victory and I know you guys have even bigger and better stories, but for me, it was a proud moment. I'm well on my way to those bigger and better stories!
