This is so WRONG!!

Tsk Tsk Tsk:bawling: I would never trade my Ranger for a "Smug-Mobile" As painful as that video is to watch it does prove how good Ford engines are. I remember back in high-school auto shop, we ran an 1984 F-150 with the 5.8 EFI for 1 hour with no oil in it before the cooling system couldn't keep up. The truck started right up the next day.:headbang:

wouldn't it be cool if that little ranger came back for revenge and put something in him and made him scream tell he stopped

REST IN RANGER HEAVEN LITTLE RANGER THAT COULD:bawling:

Ppppft. Makes me glad we don't have that 'Cash for Clunkers' bullshit up here...yet.

i dont kno much about the program but do the ppl have a choice on trading in the vehicle? or is it a manditory thing

Not sure what you mean....Nobody's forcing anyone to trade in their cars, everyone who does this is willingly participating.
If you wanted to trade in a car and not participate in the program, then I suppose you could do that, but you wouldn't get $4500 for it, just what it's actually worth.

Although it's not really relevant anymore. The program is over already.

i just wasnt sure if it was a government thing saying if ur vehicle doesnt fit our requirments we wont liscnse it but we will give u 4500 for it. i was just confused because the way ppl were reacting it sounded like it was being forced. but if it was the owners choice its not as bad

What i don't understand is that most of these vehicles that qualified where in very good shape. and like that ranger probably got 18 to 23 mpg. but the vehicle they bought got 3 to 5 mpg better.

Now wouldn't it have made more sense to take some of these V6 and 4bangers that were in great shape and offer them up for say $1,000 to people who could not afford a decent ride or any transportation at all?
The cash for clunkers program would have recouped some of there money.

I agree, they could at least give some of the vehicles to people that need them and can't afford them.:icon_thumby:

Your right it is coming out of the tax payers pocket or if you look at it better YOUR OWN pocket.

That truck didn't sound to good on start up.

You didn't get an automatic 4500. It depended on the difference in mileage between the old and the new. That is why people went to small cheap cars with high mileage.

Also I thought the car/truck that waas being scrapped didn't have to be destroyed only the motor. So the body and tires could be used. As could the transmission.

The motor and the body has to be scrapped, everything else could be re-used. Although, scrapyards were getting so many vehicles because of this program, they didn't have any time to strip them. Most of them just went straight to the crusher.

from what i was told once the engines are destroyed the vehicles get sold to the junkyard and then can do what they want w/ the rest ie sell what they want crush what they don't and sell for scrap plus the dealers get paid for them and they can keep 50 bucks and the rest is supposed to go to the consumer, but we all know the dealers are keeping it all. this whole thing stinks
