Hello all!

To start off I purchased my first Ranger a 1995 3.0 flare side in the summer of 2005 for my first vehicle. It was a good pick up truck. Two years later after many hard hours on a local farm I purchased a 2001 Mazda B4000, I drove that truck for a couple more years until I joined the military and sold it. I haven't owned Ranger in almost 9 years. This summer I was able to purchase a very nice 1990 Ranger Supercab with the 2.9 V6 Manual 4x4.

My ultimate goal with the truck is to restore it back to pristine condition and use it as my main form of transportation on race weekends. As for my user name I currently flat track race in the MN, IA, and SD areas. This winters goal is to replace the rear fenders and give the truck a re-spray, while the box is off I will have the frame vapor blasted and apply truck bedliner. I'm looking into a possible 2" lift just to get the truck a little higher off the ground. I want a stock looking appearance so nothing too crazy.

Future plans are a 302 implant, but that will have to wait as I'm too busy with race weekends and new home ownership. I have been snooping around at some of the other builds and I think I found the right place too start.

Welcome.
Share some more about flat tracking, I know nothing. Pics would be good too.

Flat track racing is a pretty fun form of motorcycle racing. It is gaining popularity again as it is featured at the summer X-games. It is basically a clay oval usually under 1/2 mile long consisting of 8-10 laps depending on the classes you run. You try to go as fast as the bike can handle and usually pitch the bike side ways into the corner sliding the rear end out.

My bike is a 2011 Yamaha YZ 250f set-up specifically for this type of racing. Usually ends up with a lowered suspension and 19" rims front and rear with special soft compound tires to grip the hard packed clay. Many guys use converted dirt bikes in a lot of the classes. The times of custom frames and 500cc motorcycle engines are slowly fading away, except for the Pro level classes which have factory support from Harley Davidson, Ducati, Indian, and Kawasaki.

Here are some pics of me on the #192 bike, I should add that most guys wear whats called a "Hot Shoe" on their left boot to prevent excessive wear while cornering

I think it would have been great for a younger me. My knees are shot. I'm racing a 1991 ranger 4*4 in a short course style series. More age appropriate ;)

4 Wheels are a lot safer than two. My hips take a pretty good beating after a weekend of racing.
