Thinning out harness

I was thinking about getting rid of some wiring inside the cab and was wondering what to look out for. Its fairly stripped down as it is right now, no stereo, no speakers, no dome light, and was wondering if its just a matter of tracing those wires back and lopping them off at the source? Or is it more involved than that? I can't say I know much about electrical, other than not to mess with it out in a rain storm. I've heard, (dunno if its true) that a lot of stuff is run in a loop, or a sequence. So that there is always some other electrical shindig going on down stream. Or like peoples trucks not running right, or something unusual being traced back to like a cigarette lighter fuse..any insight would be appreciated. Thanks.

Only way you're going to know what is what is if you have a vehicle specific diagram to reference off of. They're really helpful, but some things can take some time to sink in. It is possible to tear the harness apart and remove what you don't want then put it back together, just have to look at the circuits before you hack something to make sure you're not breaking something else.

I wouldn't recommend this as you'll destroy perfectly fine harnesses (what will removing unused circuits actually do?), but that's your call.

Sounds like you may be better off removing the OEM harnesses and just making your own. Tearing the stock harnesses apart can become somewhat time consuming. I'd just leave the plugs be IMO.
