Like the title says, I’m thinking about getting a new Ranger. I recently had to get rid of my ‘00 XLT as the mechanical problems I was having were getting to be too much for me to keep up with. What are your thoughts on the new Rangers? Is it worth it to get one?

Well, eventually, they'll get old and
the mechanical problems I was having were getting h to o "will" be too much for me to keep up with.
But other than that, they're great.

I like mine. Not a fan of having a vehicle payment but otherwise the truck have been pretty good.

I was in the same position with my old Sport Trac. It simply wasn't worth it to me to continue to put money into a truck with over 200k on it. Blown head gasket was the last straw. The last two state inspections combined came to almost $5000. You know, when you think there's nothing else to break and then something else breaks. If I replaced the head gaskets I would have had to put it on plastic and to pay it off in a year would cost about same every month as a new truck payment.
Got a new-to-me 2020 Ranger in April with 5000 miles on it. I got a Supercab since my kids are grown and gone and I don't need a full back seat any more and saved a few bucks.
I will tell you three things:
1. So far I've averaged at least 20 mpg on every tank, so gas mileage is literally 50% better than my old Sport Trac.
2. If you turn off the traction control and mash the gas, the back tires break loose at 35 mph when the turbo gets spooled up. :icon_surprised:
3. Unless you really plan on off-roading, skip the FX4 package. Everyone on the other Ranger boards and FB groups with an FX4 bitches about the shocks. I have an STX and I'm perfectly happy with it. If you really really plan to off-road you will end up getting new shocks and struts anyway. You can get the locking axle as a separate option if you want. Mine doesn't have it but neither did my last Sport Trac and I got around fine in the winter with the traction control.

We have a little over 19,000 miles on our 2019 SuperCab FX4 XL. No issues and getting 27-30 mpg.

Jump in, the waters fine.

I maybe late to the conversation but I came from a 05 sport trac. Whennit hit 270000 miles the wife wanted me to get a new truck in 2018. I bought a 17 nissan frontier basically because a good friend of mine e had one and it seemed to be a nice option since there was no Fords to replace the sport trac. Was a good truck but then the new Ranger came out. I was on the fence about starting payments over. But I eventually decided to go test drive one. I was hooked. I test drove a stx first then a lariat fx4. I liked features on both. Was going to buy the STX but it had no rear locker and I did plan on offroading it. Dealer was great and found me a Sport 4x4 with the locker and I couldn't have been happier. Wished I had the vinyl floors but some husky liners and I'm fine. Now it's got around 25000 trouble free miles and I couldn't be happier. It has plenty of interior room for family and plenty of power for towing. Gets around 20 mpg daily when not towing. And get quite exciting in Sport mode.

He speaks Bidenese.
Are you sure? That sounds more like a "TRUMPism". Notice the adulation for Paul. Soon he will be blaming Paul for the terrible condition of the vehicle survey.

Having brand new vehicle or even a yr old vehicle with low miles always makes a new owner happy. Just look at all the happy tags in the back window...

The problem is the payment each month. LOL

Seriously, though I would suggest doing some research on the make/models you want. Then look at the options available for each one. Decide which is best for YOU.

This way when you are on the lot and they don't have the one you want with the options you want you have a bartering tool.

Also, find a dealer that is a "high volume" dealer. They are more apt to barter on a lower price than a "low volume" dealer.

High volume - sells 1000 vehicles a month, so-so customer service if any, makes money on total number of sales
Low volume - sells 100 vehicle a month, great customer service, makes money on vehicle sale

Both only want your money, as soon as you leave the lot if its not in writing and if they own you something, then they don't owe you something.

we test drove the new ranger when it came out. i would have drove home in it if the wife didn't dislike it. she had an titanium ruby colored escape and the ranger we drove was a higher level ruby colored crew cab. it didn't even look like we got in a different vehicle for the test drive, from the front seats. identical to the escape which killed my wife. she wants a new car every three years so she said heck no to feeling like she was in the escape for another three years after she had a 2014 escape se, 2015 escape se, and then the 2018 escape titanium. she was worn out with that interior look.

i was super bummed though. i loved it. i offered her my frontier as a trade but she wasn't going with it so no awesome new ranger for us.

now my oldest son and i keep hinting about a maverick for her. she says no but time is on my side because she just got that mazda3 6 or 8 months ago so i can keep working on her subconsciously till its time to trade the mazda3 in.
