So currently I use a 1988 landscape trailer for towing. I don’t use it terribly much. But when I do. I find myself wanting a wider trailer. I’ve priced a few different car trailers. And so far I’m thinking a 18’ wood deck would suite my needs. I’m trying to keep to 2600 and under. I think I could get 1500 for my trailer if I fixed it up a bit.

Thoughts?

I have access to a 12' deck trailer and a 18' deck trailer, the 12' has hauled my 14' long Ranger around a fair amount and even a '98 4 door Explorer, it's 6.5' between fenders, works fine but length is nice... no room for frills... The 18' trailer is deck over and 8' wide so it's super nice to get stuff on... Still not enough room to get the Ranger and a quad on with a reasonable tongue weight.

Im going to a consignment auction tomorrow, hoping to come home with either a trailer or a old tractor. theres 3 diffeent 2N’s Im looking at, a 800 series ford ((I want something with a 3-point hitch, havent yet got a kit for my allis C) and theres several trailers. I have no car hauler trailer at this time, so if I end up with a tractor I will have to drive it home-15 miles, its going to be in the high 20’s tomorrow. brr! Been needing a flatbed trailer for awhile, hope I can bring one home. I probably shouldnt have just spent $700 at rock auto on stuff for the escape (but one of the items is a trailer hitch) I may end up building one. Sometimes thats the only way to go.

I think that one might have trouble hauling a car...

I have found that wider is better when it comes to a car trailer only because if you use it for a car the wheel wells have a tendency to force you to climb out a window on a narrow trailer. Of course if this isn't an issue you have, needing to haul cars at times, then a skinnier trailer may suit the needs you have.

Not sure what the girl has to do with this thread.... Who is it? I think she would fall under the truck "rack" section not the "trailer" section lol. As to the trailer. They only make them in a few different widths so there are trailers over 80" and under 80". Trailers over 80" need extra lights just FYI. Your trailer only has the rear lights that I see so i'm guessing it is under 80". Just keep that in mind if you have to get lights for a new trailer.

Trailers over 80" require the marker lights on side corners, one on each rear corner and 3 in the center to indicate the trailer is over 80" by law. This means that the trailer will either come with them installed or at least have the placements for them. These lights are not included in the stop/turn/marker lights that all trailers require to be on the road legally. This also applies to all CDL Box trailer and/or any vehicle that is over 80" wide.

Open deck car trailers are nice when you’re trying to keep the weight down and only use it for cars/trucks. If you want to use it for other stuff, get a full deck. You’ll find a lot of people buy open decks and then lay down wood to fill it in... I don’t see the point, just buy the right trailer in the first place.

And is probably more trouble than she's worth. Great to look at for sure. I just wouldn't want the bill that comes with it.
