My credo
Its probably better to be self deprecating than self defecating.
Been wanting a new pistol for a little while. Something reasonably concealable.

Unsure what I really want.

I've had XD's and an sr40, currently have an OG LCP, shot all sorts of glocks... so certainly familiar with the plastic striker guns.. but thinking I might want to mix it up a bit with this purchase.

A not-quite full size 1911 would make me happy.. BUT but they can be difficult to live with (especially in my budget).. and the limited capacity is kind of a drag.

A judge would be cool.. but I would have a hard time spending that kind of money on something so simple/basic.. and again.. capacity.

I've always thought that the fiveseven was a pretty sweet pistol.. the FN offering is out of my ideal price range.. but I see ruger has recently started making one of their own. The ruger is still a little too much.. but its such a sweet little pistol I think I could deal with it (plus, that capacity)

Thoughts?

I was thinking of this for the wife... price is right and a 25 dollar rebate. Tarus G2C 9mm

I would love a Kimber micro of some sort for an EDC... I just can't get my mind around the price.

I have no personal experience with Taurus but I've read/heard enough to be kind of leery of the brand. Going *BANG* when you NEED it to is paramount, naturally lol.. so I won't spend money on anything that I don't have 100% confidence in.

I REALLY like the LCP. When I bought it, I was after a "buttcrack gun" that was super easily concealed in summer clothes. That thing fits the bill perfectly, and the price was right at 1/2 to 1/3 the price of other similarly sized pistols. Ruger came out with the LCP2 a few years ago.. slightly revised sights & trigger.. havnt shot one but wouldn't mind having one. The trigger is my only real complaint about the original.. the pull is 54' long and kinda heavy BUT you know exactly where the break point is so 🤷‍♀️

A kimber micro is high on the list of potential purchases for sure. They're actually not as expensive as I thought they were.

I was not impressed with the LCP. A friend bought one when they first came out in .380. Trigger was junk and it liked to jamb. Not sure what the problem was... but he stuck it in the safe and bought a Kimber.

Damn.. I'm not sure how long after they came out that I bought mine but that's not quite my experience. I do agree the trigger isn't awesome.. but I've run some real junk cheapo steel case stuff through it and never experienced any sort of 'failure to _____ ' even with spirited mag dumpings.

Can get a stainless 2 tone kimber micro 9 from bass pro for $680....

Thats not as bad as I remember lol. It's a hefty chunk of change for sure, but the quality is undoubtedly there. I'd have to hold one to see how I really feel about it.

For what it’s worth, I thought the same about Taurus. I ended up with a G2C after my brother bought one and I had some gift cards, and it’s been great. I also got their TX22 recently and it has been great reliability wise. Tons of fun to shoot too.

I’ve heard horror stories about Taurus too. I’m not saying there the best or anything but they’ve been good and solid for me and the handful of people I personally know with them. I know that’s only a couple data points but I guess I wouldn’t cast it aside based on what’s on the internet and I’d say they’re worth a look.

I carried a Rossi 351-2 .38 Special for quite a while and decided to get a semi auto a couple of years back. I got a Ruger Security 9 Compact after shooting a full size Security 9. The full size is actually not much larger than the Compact. Just carries 5 rounds more due to the length of the butt.

I do like me a good wheelgun.. I had considered getting an LCR a few years ago but I feel like ruger wants ENTIRELY too much for those things.

Get a commander size 1911. I think mine is a rock island armory. Never jammed on me in the four or five years I have owned it and if you run out of ammo. You can club people to death

My wife has Sig p238, I think. It's the same style but smaller. It's a beautiful pistol

Same here. We each have one for CC. We have the Desert models. We picked the Sig after looking at the Kimber.

Capacity is limited though -- so carry two clips.

Almost forgot to mention that all our firearms were lost in a boating accident...

I have an LCPII. The trigger is fair. It’s a two piece trigger, and the pull is supposed to be a lot shorter and light then the original.

That my go to for a pocket gun. Wife loves it too.

Full size Barreta 92 fs is my favorite gun I own. Like shooting a BB gun.

My beater is a Star BM, bought three of them for $200 each. Used online when the Spanish police force phased them out. Good size to conceal, but it’s all steal so it’s heavy, even with the single stack 9mm magazine.

Here’s a picture. Bought it used for $400 with two magazines, didn’t even look like it had a whole box of ammo through it

added the grips and bought a shoulder holster from barretta for less then the cost of a new one

I have a Taurus G2 as well. The price was rigt, esp w a $50 rebate. It is a truck gun as I HATE the trigger, but it never has failed me at the range. Concealability? I like my G43. I hate Glocks; that is the reason I only own eight of them...

My dad picked up a G3, and he loves the trigger...

1) Taurus G2C or PT111
2) Glock 43x

These are my 2 considerations. I gave my daughter the Taurus and she has carried it for 4 years, loves it. I have carried a 1911 Commander forever but desire a more slender firearm for ITW carry.
