HI, I'm new here. My car blew its head gasket a few days ago and I don't think I'm going to bother fixing it. I was looking through some online car ads and spotted one for a 93 Ranger. The ad goes:
1993 Ford Ranger (Maroon in colour)
this truck is a steal! 4 cyl, 5speed, 180 000 kms excellent shape for year comes with bed tool box. Excellent on gas, tires in good shape, runs great
the truck does need:
Throw out baron (cost$60-70) and a new spring hanger (cost$50-60).
Kms are hwy kms as used to travel long distance back and forth to work in construction.
Paid $2300 last June, selling for such low price because we need it gone ASAP as were moving.
The asking price is $975. What are these like for fuel mileage? Fueleconomy.gov's website lists the 2.3 5 speed at 20city/26highway, 1 mpg better on the highway than my previous car (92 Dodge Spirit) was rated at. How bad is that throwout bearing going to likely be? Would I be able to drive it before I got that fixed?
