thinking about either buying a 351 cleveland or a 302 or just rebuilding my 4.0 v6
does anybody have a 351c conversion? and any suggestions on any other FORD engines would be appreciated

The 302/351 windsor is way better and easier swap than the cleveland, not to mention finding a tranny/tcase combo to fit as well...
SVT

or stroke your 302 to a 347, run a stock 351 computer (302 fits better than a 351 and the 351 speed density computer is more than enough to run a 347) use GT-40p heads to keep the compression down to 9.3:1 so you can run 87 octane........ use dished pistons and you can run a blower or a fat turbo (the only 2 reasons for going 347 over a 351, 5.0L fits better in a ranger, and a blown or turbo'd 351 would eat transmissions for breakfast)

There's absolutely no difference in running a Cleveland as far as the transmission and transfer case are concerned. The ONLY difference is in header selection. Same motor mounts that fit the Windsor also fit the Cleveland, ditto for the bellhousing pattern.

There are a coupel members here and over on the RPS site that are running Clevelands. Do a search using 351C in "members"

???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
You would blow the tires before you smoked a well built C6.
How many v-8 rangers have you built?

Interesting

Not often do you hear of people doing the 351C heads onto a 302 block swap. I've Often thought that a set of 2bbl 351C heads on a 302 would be a neat motor... any other thoughts on this? I'm fixin' to start on an engine with Drew, so interested in input. Seriously -Alan D or any of the technical guys, please chime in. I think there are parts at my disposal if that's the way we we choose to go.

Basically the 4bbl head version of this is a home made Boss 302, but you have to be very careful about making sure the valvetrain is OK. In my experience 80+ percent of high perfromance engine failures result from valvetrain issues.

BTW - copperhead I love your slogan. I was buying a bottle of boubon a couple of hours ago and appreciated where I was here in Northern Wisconsin. You can buy liquor, a shotgun and shells in the same store. Ain't that a beauty?

God Bless America.

I have a 351 Cleveland in my Ranger. It was originally a 4.0 V6. When I first modified it, I installed a 5.0 V8. :headbang: It ran really good and had a lot of power. But after installing my 351 Cleveland, I am really impressed with it! :shok: Go with the Cleveland, you'll be glad you did! :icon_cheers:

if you are using the GT-40p heads good luck finding headers that'll work for cheap.

i dont have "P" heads, but i do have headers from an explorer, and they work great! plus when i get some "P" heads, im ready.
