i'm close to the guy who has his purple ranger for sale on here ( prob within ~40 miles) for 5500...and most 4x4's on cl around here are selling for 3-4k for good condition without obviously high miles, etc.

reason for selling : I've always wanted a diesel and i think the perfect opportunity has showed itself...and i don't think i can afford the gas as the job i might have an interview for is about ~20 miles away, plus another 25 for school..without detours.

it's a 93, 4x4, 4.0/auto
trans slips a little into 2nd...or third. haven't driven it enough to notice which shift it is. no plates on it and haven't had any since i've driven it home so i don't get to drive it much.
4x4 isn't working for some reason. makes a nice clunk when i try and i don't think i'm getting power to the wheels.
has 33's with 50% on front and like 80% on back
not much rust on the body itself but the frame is typical for a 18 year old truck around here...has a 6 inch lift kit w/ pro comp shocks. that's about all i know about the lift. not sure about the gearing but it has some kick and isn't slow to accelerate.
drove nice on the way home. All 120 miles @ 65 mph. a little vibration but its lifted and it's old...and the tires are probably out of balance.

so think it's worth 1500? if not , what would be an acceptable price for it??

If the tranny was fine I've pay it. Or maybe if I knew I could pick one up around me for cheap.

Its easily worth 1500. Probably more. I got 2000 out of my 89 B2 when it got wrecked.

what diesel do you plan to buy that gets better mileage than your ranger?

Possibly a 88 chevy 2500 w/ a 6.2 DD

And i get 17-18 with my dads cummins, so i don't see a problem pulling the same with that...and it's an extended cab so the extra bench seat would be cool to have.

but its a 6.2. you wont get 17-18 with it and there gutless compared to a 6.5. I DD'd a 6.5 extended cab one ton for a while and that thing had tons of torque, but no get up and go if you know what I mean.

You can get 20+ with them of you have OD.

good luck i'm rootin for you haha

true. you pryy couldnt do any worse than a lifted 4.0 ranger, but the only thing I hated was paying for the diesel. I only drove around 30 miles a day and it cost 20 bucks a day just to run the damn thing. and this was just driving from school and work and back

60 bucks got me a little less than half a tank and it only lasted 150 miles, where I can spend 40 to fill my ranger all the way and it lasts upwards of 400 miles. but of course my ranger has the duratec in it haha.

yeah, Except i guess if you keep off the pedal diesels should get better. i know i can blow through 15 bucks in a day with my dads truck going 45 miles a day if i slam the pedal down a few too many times, but if i keep it low i can make the same 15 bucks last for 1.5...maybe even almost 2 days worth.

there was something wrong with your 6.5 turbo....... thats all 6.5ts have is bottom end and get up and go....... they fall flat with a stock turbo at 2000 rpms. I forget at what rpm but my 94 with a 4L80E could easily bump the governor with 3.73 gears and stock tires...... that was 97mph
cruised nice at 1800 which was 60/65 mph

a 6.2 will easily get 20+ mpg with an OD if its running right...... and it can burn any old cheap junk oily fuel you can put in it.....

even if it got 10 mpg it can run free or nearly free fuel (as long as it's filtered properly)
