things are tough all over...

yeah they are. my buddy is laid of for a month until he turns 18. he was a engineer but he'll be working in the field. and 2 of my brothers friends are laid off, too. one is a electrician and one does collision repair.

Got a couple buddy's who are laid off and another was laid off for a couple months. Thankfully where I work is still pretty steady and I know I wouldn't be the first to go if we did get slow.

luckily we're pretty busy at the shop I'm at. Between the cars in the shop and the cars sitting outside we've got 60. The body guys just need to speed up and get em over to us on the paint side lol, we were pretty slow yesterday.

I am very fortunate, my job is very safe. Being the only IT guy at a hospital does have certain job security advantages. Unless I do something really stupid.

I've been in school for the past six months...the job prospects in my field are not too promising...but, if all else fails...I can sell my body...or maybe loan it out for a few hours at a time...

Well, I'm working in the field for the next 2 weeks, then back to the shop for a week then my last bit of school for 2 months after that. We usually have 12 guys, but between oversea's work, school, disability (lost a guy, broke back mountian biking) and days off, there may only be 3-4 guys in the shop over the next 2 months...I think our jobs are secure.

I think my job is fairly secure...we're the only organization in the state that does what we do. So as long as the state doesn't make huge cuts to a bunch of programs, I think I'll be OK. Just gotta keep doing things the best I can so I don't attract attention.

I can only think of one person who's been laid off so far and that's just due to a seasonal deal (not too much concrete poured in January..) There is a local technology manufacturing company that is going through layoffs right now but they always do that. They just hire a ton of temps and then let them go when whatever project they're working on is finished.

luckily my job is way secure. i got hired in november as a corections officer im still in training for the next yr.but as long as i show up to work and on time im fine. i have a good work ethic so thats not a problem for me.

We are actually adding people. Very busy, looks to be that way for the foreseeable future.

you think 09 will have any rays of hope?

Heck.... the unemployment rate in michingan was 11% last time I checked and thats only the reported statistic! Michigan is starting to sink but my boss and I think that this is only the beginning. Hope the auto industry bounces back cause in my area at least 25% for the workforces thrives off of the industry weather it be direct or indirect.
