Car Dealers are Thieves! I purchased my last new vehicle in 1993. Was a 4.0 Explorer. Not a bad rig but not worth 24 Grand, either. Gave it to the EX in the divorce. I decided then and there that I'd never buy new again. I now buy good used vehicles under $8K. I only need liability insurance...about $200 a year. No overpriced vehicle payments or interest.

I still get a little excited looking at new trucks but can't justify the screwing involved in a purchase. $15,000. off MSRP! then I see the fine print under the ad...$55,000.00 FOR A PICK-UP TRUCK! Give me a break. 30 years ago, you could buy a HOME for that. I'll keep my little Ranger, thanks.

Same here; my last new one was my '94, which is still going . . . and going . . . and going . . .

Having a new or newer truck sure is nice, but besides saving a lot of $$$, I just think that the older models are easier and cheaper to keep running over the long haul, than the newer ones.

I don't think your $55,000 pickup truck is comparable to your $24,000 truck. A $55,000 pickup is a commercial vehicle underneath and a Cadillac on top.

If it's a commercial vehicle underneath thats great....but unless I need one, I wouldn't pay 60% of that!!

Its not only the Dealers you steal, but the common folk that try to sell there used cars. I found a nice 06' Ranger FX4, very nice, 4x4, auto and power everything. Only one problem, they want $16,000 for it with over 120,000miles on it. I would not pay a cent over $10k for it. (I got my Ranger for $4.5k back in April 2003.)

I'll bet

I'll bet that even though they knock $15,000.00 off the MSRP that they are still making a sizeable profit. That means if someone actually pays MSRP....what a screwing!

The profit margin on new cars is small--less than 6%. Maybe a lot less than that now that sales have ground down to nothing.

I am all for profit...but within reason. Greed is why this country is in such a mess, right now. I feel for the American AutoWorker but not for the CEO's or big white collar mutts.

I know I will get flamed for this statement, but I dont feel for the American Auto Worker. When my buddys dad retired, he was making $52 an hour, and retired with full benfits and a pension. I am not lying when I say a damn chicken could do his job.

Greed is the reason why this companys economy is in the trash, but it is the greed of everybody. How in the hell can any of us justify someone making so much money when a college education isnt necessars. And dont get me started on how F'ed our educational ideals are.

Im sorry for the rant but holy crap.

I would never pay that much for a truck, but look around for screaming deals, my buddies brother just bought an 07 ram 3500, 6.7 cummins, 6 speed, with 4" lift and new 35s, 7000 miles, $26,000!

Where can I sign up?

As a mechanic, I don't really make enough to really live on. $11/hr is good and all, but you consider the cost of everything, it barely affords anything. If I were to make $52/hr, I wouldn't be living so high and mighty. More down to earth and living in something I really only need (no big mansion, multi-cars, toy boats, etcs). Maybe invest in wind energy like the Chevy dealer did in Norman.

Admin, Research, Development, Design, Supply, Manufacture, Logistics, Sales--nobody in those groups is responsible; the first half of those groups are probably considered white collars by you and. Finance industry is what is responsible. Everytime something like this happens the feds try to find out exactly what happened and try to make rules to prevent it. Then the financial wizards get to work trying to circumvent the new system. They figure out ways to control a lot of money with a little bit of money. That leaves a big amount of debt floating around like a hot potato. And when the shit hits the fan, they are the Chicken Littles that try to run out from under it with their shirts on, and dive out high windows sometimes.

is the $11 a hr straight or flagged, I was a lot jockey at a dealer making $10.55 a hr plus tips with free benifits. and i was a young dumb and full of you know, then there was a couple of guys a bit older than I was there making $16/hr. and that was 4yr ago, if I were you and could deal with ass's all round you I would look at being a service writer, I knew a few pulling triple digit incomes, about 120k one told me.
