These Wd-40 Cans Suck!

Hey now. I have to regularly spray my add a leafs hahaha. Just ask the ones who attended the LBL trip. But agreed I have a problem I need to address. If I use lithium grease I get about a month and a half squeak free. Regular wd40 only lasts about a week.

Find this and try it.

I will look for that. @sgtsandman mentioned some pucks I would have to drill and add on the extra leaf too. I'm need to look for those. I'm still waiting on my brake line right now. Was supposed to be in Friday. It's now Monday at lunch and they say they still haven't got it. Wonder if the strike is delaying it. Luckily the fix @bobbywalter put on it is still holding strong. No leaks and pedal is firmer than ever haha.

WD-40 works great for what it’s designed for. Coating metal to keep it from rusting. That’s about it.

It's not bad as a quick/cheap/easy way to clean surface corrosion off too. I'll sometimes use it that way and then wipe down and follow up with a decent lubricant.

I can’t remember exactly what they are called but they are like thin pucks that keep the leaves from squeaking and wearing where they contact. They do wear out over time. So it isn’t a “one and done” thing. I’ve replaced some on the 2011 already and a few more will probably need replaced in the Spring. Amazon sells them as do some of the online sites dedicated to suspension springs. Just measure the width of the spring to get the right size.

My brother and I were working on a replacement engine, a 300 6 for the E300. I'd bought it from a work buddy in MS who had one in a wrecked truck.
We were working in an uncles garage in Dallas. I was on one side cleaning and scrubbing and he was on the other side doing something, it was standing on its tail.
At some point I sprayed a bit of WD40 at it and swished it back and forth. The can came around the side as my brother looked around the same side. OOPS!

After a bit I asked how his eye was doing, he said it was doing fine, but seemed to be moving a bit faster than the other one

Amazon.com: Cyclo Heavy Duty Breakaway Fast Penetrating Oil - Case of 12 x 13 Oz - Extended Lubrication Breaks Loose Rusted Joints and Bolts : Industrial & Scientific. $8999 ?
That's nuts, I paid $6.99 this summer.

WD40 has been banished from my garage+home for several years now;
its over rated\priced & a terribly bad lubrication for just about any purpose.
SiliconeSpray or LithiumSpray or PetroleumJelly or StickyRedAxleGrease or 5w30.FullSyn
are personal preferences for general use.

That was just something I saw, it may have been supposed to had a dot in the middle? When doing searches I see numbers like that a lot :)

I have two cans I can send, you can banish those too :D

I use silicone spray VERY sparingly as NOTHING takes it off, if you plan on painting anything within 10' of where you use it, good luck... it's only good on non metal contact stuff too so I don't have much use for it unless I have a sticky window on a car...

I use WD as a general purpose lube but don't use it much, I have a couple quarts left in a gallon and am switching to a squirt bottle for it, have also used an old Ronson lighter fluid bottle to use just a little here and there... I find PB blaster and some of the other more stinky sprays better for penetrating...

One of my main lubes for moving metal stuff and I've used it for engine assembly and all sorts of things is chainsaw bar oil in a quart oil jug with a gear oil cap on... it's a tacky version of 20 or 30 weight oil...

Different oils can be wierd, I don't know the total score but I recall my uncle, who was an airplane mechanic from WW2 till he died saying they used only recycled oil when breaking in the newly rebuilt engines

I stayed with my cousin once who was about my age, within months actually, and one night my dad's brother, my uncle came in and told us to get dressed up.
He took us out to Redbird, where he worked, and we met Jet, the only man he trusted to fly with, and took us up on a ride it is hard to forget. An era when the big red Mobil? horse was an outstanding sight on top of one of their tallest towers
We actually saw downtown Dallas, from a tiny little Cessna, in an era that could not be replicated. We flew up one side, and around downtown, and back down to Redbird. I think we may have had an extra round, it seemed we were in some excellent company
This would have been roughly 64/65 possibly late as 66

For a solid 20 minutes as long as it is a climate controlled environment.

I use it for cleaning stuff and removing actual lubricant.
