Thermostat housing

So I have a cracked thermostat housing on my 85 2.8. Napa can't get it, ford says it's discontinued. It's the two bolt style, the temperature sender and another sensor screw into it. Any suggestions on finding one or finding an interchangeable part? I will update this later with the original part number if that will help. Thanks in advance

It depends on when your engine was made. This is the one for the later E5TZ-8592-F

E3TZ 8592N is the number for the original, it's the old stylethat looks just like one front a 70's v8, except for the sensors and it also serves a heater hose. Looks a lot like what a 2.3 from the same era has, just a little bigger. I would be happy with anything that will bolt on and seal, and just move the sensors and heater hose if I have to to get it back on the road

I'm not having any luck finding one, but here is a photo and another number for you to use in your search (Motorcraft RH-16)

It would be possible to convert it to use the later style thermostat housing, but you'd be looking at $200 in parts.

Another number (which I also can't find) is E3TZ-8592-K

Have you tried junk yard? I occasionally see 2.8 Rangers and B2s.

Usually I see the older ones which I think is what the OP is after. The later style was a mid '85 change so it was only made for part of a year. If possible I would try to switch to that style and enjoy having the thermostat where it is meant to be (IMO)

The old style is really the one ones i see. Thats what my 85 had.

You guts must have good junkyards, last time I went to look the closest ones to me has 4 cylinders and 4.0's, a couple 2.9's and that was it. I have a line on a parts truck, maybe I'll get lucky and it will have it.

Update, j.b.weld and a flat file and it's drivable. A shortage of firewood and trees to close together for my chevy to fit led me to the backwoods engineering fix. I swapped some cheapo used 32's on it a while back bease my buckshots wouldn't smoother out. Did some cutting today and it reminded me how much I love these little trucks. Squeezing between trees and driving over rotten logs and small brush piles and yard in logs out it did great. The tires suck, but it still walked over everything, just didn't have the best traction for pulling. Of course it's a $100 dollar beater truck or it wouldn't be doing that, but it got the job done.

It is hit and miss.

Last time I was there they had one first gen. It was too early for the switch I needed (it was a BII so it did have a 2.8 though I guess)
