3/16 is the material I have, and plan to use. I will be using a piece of 1/4 x 8 plate to mount the winch to, but the rest will be 3/16. I'm cutting the plate down as much as I can, but I didn't measure the winch to see how much I need to cut it down. I'm thinking I can cut it down to 6" wide, this will save on weight and excess material...
