I've always just pushed the white ring in with a couple of screwdrivers. The plastic ring is missing on my 94. Any clever ideas on how to disconnect this without cutting it off the slave?

dont cut that line! its like 80ish bucks! been there done that!

take a strip of sheetmetal or similar material and wrap it around the inner piece of the disconnect and push that in with your screw drivers to engage the disconnect. Its worked for me before

I have a spare slave, so I was considering cutting the slave up. I'd rather save it for when one of my other trucks actually needs one. I'll try the sheetmetal trick and let you know how it works.

you can use a piece of plumping holddown? im not sure what its called but its the strip of metal that comes in a roll with a bunch of holes in it. it would be easier to cut and bend

i took a good size hose clamp and got rid of the worm gear part. then fought that in with a screwdriver.
