this country doesn't produce any more advanced degrees because of the cost........ have you seen what it costs to go to Grad school? because of the double Major my wife has been a full time student for 6 years, this is her last semester. We have to pay back $120,000 just for 6 years to get her undergrad degree.... thats principal and interest, at the point we start making payments ..... then to get her PHD in neuroscience at Michigan state will add about another $80,000, all the while the original $120,000 gains more interest...... so figure about by the time you have your PHD you have spent 10 or 11 years as a full time student and gotten yourself $220,000 in debt...... your student load payments are about $2500 a month for a $40,000 a year job...... the other side of that coin ...... these people that Micorsoft imports to work here ........ their respective countries funded their education for a third of what it costs to get a PHD here


consequently...... if you go in the Military as an Officer they will pay all of your student loans...... they make a payment for every month you serve so Teffie will have to serve 15 years to pay off her Bachelors...... plus 6 for medical school ....... might as well stay in the the lat 9 and get a full retirement... not bad though ....... full retirement as say a colonel would give you $75,000 a year pension plus full medical .......

I don't like Walmart. I have a video here somwhere my Mother-In-Law sent us about the negative impact Walmart has on other business and how they're the largest importer from China.

It's sad because people shop there to save money, but I think it's killing the American economy with everything they import.

I doubt Sam Walton would be happy today if he saw what Walmart has become. My wife and I shop at Target to avoid supporting Walmart.

yeah..... UC Sanfrancisco offered Teffie a $50,000 Stipend and to pay her tuition to get her PHD there (because of the lack of women with a double major in neuroscience and theoretical physics), but not everybody going for a PHD can get into the same type of program....... there are not that many schools that will pay you to get a PHD in computer programming.....

I am not talking about the quantity of degree holders. I am talking about the quality of the degree holders. I am not sure about India or China but I know that the TEC (El Instituto Tecnologico y de Estudios Superiores) in Mexico costs as much for their undergrads as a Masters does here (10 years ago it was 11,000 per year + books/supplies). It's a large private school. And yeah, I know what grad school costs. I have applied for a masters in landscape architecture. UO with residency - tuition about 12,000 per year for 3 years. Plus living and books, etc. WSU closer to 20,000 per year for three years plus the extras. Not to mention I am still paying off my Bachelors.

My brother and his wife are/were both Captains in the army based out of Fort Lewis and both did two tours in Iraq. Both of hers were in Baghdad and he had one in baghdad and one in Mosul. They did quite nicely, no school debt. She was West Point, he was Oregon State University ROTC.

Why six years for a double major? She change her mind part way through? Or is that also including her Masters before the Doctorate. And what kind of job having a PhD in Neuroscience only pays 40,000 a year (or is that the residency pay)? My wife makes more than that working as a paralegal.
