I have posted all the info and no one has answered the question yet!

I HAVE-- Tk4 and a Tk 5 from a 4cyl. Both have removable bells. WILL one of these bells match up to a trans from a v6 --Fm132? ..... That is the question that has not yet been answered. That is all the info of both trans and the engines they have came from.

It seems pretty hard to get very technical on this forum. Trust me, I have been asking questions for a while, haha.

I tend to find that when it comes to a technical question, it is usually answered pretty quick.

Now, if I ask a question that could be easily answered by spending a few minutes of my own time with a tape measure, then they usually don't get any helpful responses.

First off I'll say I haven't a clue, I've only dealt with V6 equipment on the Ranger.

To add to the conversation I'll say: From my experience on different automotive forums, people also look at a join date of 2007 and 20 posts and realize the person is only out for themselves and not really looking to join a community of people helping each other. Then they simply don't care enough to answer.

I was reading the local classified ads, and there was the v-6 5spd trans for sale. my 85 only has a four speed and i was just wondering if this swap was possible. I really don't know that musch about the v6 because my rangers are both 4cyl. And i also don't think this is a question that is all about me--- i think maybe it could help some one else out too. I have a ranger question--- so i go to the people that know the most about them. I thought that the rangerstation was all about rangers and the helping all the others that have them and enjoy them.

The bells for the '85-up T-K and FM145 are the same.
(for a given engine)

The bellhousing that fits the FM132 is the same as the bell for
the 146 and is different from the '85-87 Bellhousing

THEORETICALLY you could fit a front bearing retainer bulkhead
from an FM145 to an FM132/146 (1988-92 2.9 engine ONLY)
and then fit an '85-87 Bellhousing to it.

Remember the slave sylinder system changed for 1988

Also if you are playing with an EARLY (external slave) T-K bellhousing ('83-84 type)
it's useless to you.

belhousing

I tried this on a 92 Bronco 2 for a friend. the front bearing/housing plate turned out to be diffrent between the two. the internal slve clyinder didn't mount the same. I eventually located 4cyld 4spd/od from a slightly newer mdel and swapped in the whole thing adapting the slave cylinder hoses together.

IF you are working with an EARLY 1985-87) Mitsubishi FM145 and use that bearing retainer (and bellhusing) on the LATE transmission what you have done is basically allowed the use of the '85-87 bellhousing and slave cylinder on the '88-92 transmission.

frankly it's an awful lot of work to replace one POS trans with another POS.

a 4cyl 2wd Mazda trans isn't that hard to aquire.
