Soooo, we were doing some snow wheelin tonight, we were in about a foot to 2 feet of snow and i decided to let the GF drive, she had never wheeled it in snow before so i thought it would be fun for her. Well we are going down a steep hill and get tot he bottom and go to head up the other side when the back end just slides off like it was in 2wd. So i get out and dig a little and have her go and the front tires arnt spinning. Soi thought shit maby it broke the spiders or something in the front, but the drivers side axle was turning and there were no noises or anything coming from the diff. I go check and the driver side hub was unlocked, so i locked it in and it did no good, so i looked under the truck and can see the rotor big time around the backing plate, well the spindle nuts backed off on th drivers side and it all fell apart. I have to highlift it off the ground and take the damn thing apart in the snot, the threads are kille don the spindle idk how i got the nut to start back on but i did. Got it back togeher with the parts that werent destroyed and drive it home 30 miles. This sucks but now i guess is the time for the strait axle to make its way in. And to make things better now i have to ride my street bike to work cause i have the stang apart doing the clutch in it. what a good way to start the new year. Its gonna be a cold ride, lol.

That sucks dude, repairs up in the snow arent any fun! What are you doing with that D35 after you pull it :D

did it break something or did it just come apart? cause you cant exactly blame something coming loose on the truck.:nopityA:

gotta remember not to blame the truck for an oversite of yours. its happened to me and i have made sure not to blame the truck for something that i did.

The Ranger didn't let you down. Letting you down would have been leaving you stuck and dead in the snow.

If the hub is gone, upgrade from the stockers to something like WARN.

It has warns, and i know it was my fault. The little pin on the one nut of spacer thing was sheered off nd i had to keep on re-tightening it. I have all new parts and was gonna fx it this morning cause its my day off. Oh well now though. Gotta fix the car so i can DD it and work on the ranger. Its been that way for months though and i figured it could take one more snow run. Guess not, lol.

Well the good news is that you were able to get out. They could have found you two in Spring.

ha, you know what absolutly hilarious, we've got a mud pit on the farm we call "the snot".... its just black pond mud, theeee worst, i think at one time somone dumped a bunch of used oil in it, its that black, and it produces this orange grease that floats on the top. Its the most disgusting mud ive ever seen.

there are a set of mannual hubs out there for the 98-01 year ranger. AFTER i bought the replacement auto ones i saw that theres a company that makes them, AVM maybe i think. I know both warn and superwinch dont make a drop in replacement mannual hub for that year ranger.
