the ranger has been released.

Of course! I would too....Its still an RBV :icon_cheers:. No point in being a bunch of asses and singling someone out.

If this forum was around in 1989-1990 when Bronco II was phased out, would we have denounced the Ford Explorer as an RBV?

I must say, I do like the 2 door versions that someone posted. That, if only a smaller, would be probably do well in the US.

I agree, its still an RBV, and the two door version does have a nice look to it. it should definitely be allowed access, unless they make it a unibody, front wheel drive, with no 4x4 option. lmao

i personally like low profile body lines, no low riders, but bodys that are not as tall. like the older rangers or even old toyotas, NO, I DO NOT LIKE TOYOTA's, but i meant these new trucks, including the new f150, just look so bulky and low to the ground because their body lines are so huge and gawdy, their windows are also mounted higher, and are smaller. i guess thats what most people want though now, because half of the market is after the biggest truck they can get (previous corvette owners) because the more uslessly large their street truck is , the bigger their manhood must be. at least this new world ranger looks like it could fit 35's wit out any real effort.

I don't know if anybody has thought of this, but it just dawned on me the other day that the current F-150 is about the same size as an early-90's Super Duty, if not bigger.

Yeah, and the early 90's (or basically a 80-97) was the same size as a F-100. They have the same body to be exact.

As a former '99 Ranger owner, I can honestly say that I wish that Ford had this newly designed Ranger available for sale about 6 months ago (when I was looking to replace my Ranger), and of course available here in the U.S. I think it's a great looking truck on the outside, I like the size, and I even like the retro chrome roll bar (reminds me of the 4x4 trucks I used to drool over as a kid in the mid-80's). The interior looks way too car-like for my tastes, I'm not sure what they were thinking there. Overall I think it's a great design and with the diesel options would be a very useful truck here in the U.S. But as has been mentioned, it would rob too many sales from the F-150.

Man I take that EXT cab any day. The front end isnt the best but I could deal

So here we are, complaining about the very thing we have been asking for the last three years?

I just think people were wanting a new ranger, not a remake of the old 70s vw rabbit pickup.

Now, personally, a complete redesign of the nose and I could live with it.

As i mentioned earlier, after 13 years of same and or similar, it had to become something 90% new. And I agree, some of the lines are not all too square and straight, like the ones we love. But for all intensive purposes, what do we really require of our trucks? That they take us where we want to go, A to B in most cases, and the occasional off road jaunt. I think that is fair to say for most of us. The body lines really have no effect on the truck practicality, other than the crew / double cab :yahoo: Another point that is slightly off topic, but that you can go most places, without having the ultimate offroad vehicle. I will not argue that two solid axels are amazing. But my completely stock, one solid axle SLA set up, has taken me everywhere i have ever wanted to go. But with skilled driving, I have no doubt that just because something has 2 inches less travel, or has a sway bar, (IRS), that it is going to be so detrimental. Yes it is a deviation from the solid axel that we have known and loved, but are we really incapable of, technologically, making a IRS that cannot be used as a heavy to medium duty setup. Advancements will be made, and the best thing we can do at this time, is give them some idea's! Let know what we want, and how we want it! / end rant.

Yes they can make them heavy duty, the miltary Humvee has had it for decades. They had a show on TV where they where making big MRAPS for the miltary with IRS.

Even saw one of these the other day...

If you don't like it, just buy an older ranger. Thats probably what I'll end up doing eventually.

Yep........and if that doesn't suit you........collect enuff parts to stick on a goood rolling chassis........
