The "Ranger code."

It's it just me but does nearly everybody who drives a Ranger follow some unwritten code about being honest, friendly, and willing to help a friend in need?

It kinda hit me today on the way home from work. I passed a silver Ranger w/ his hazards on on I-93 north today. I felt kinda l9usey because I didn't stop to help.

Any a crazy or is my brain just fried???

i guess its the proof of our love for this things.
i really believe were the only people that has feelings for a machine, and we feel the urge to help another machine that is in danger

The fact that we choose to drive a small truck, a truck that can be used like you would typically use a full-size but also be used more like a car, like commuting, parking in tight spots, etc. I think says something about us. Like we are versatile people that often times are willing to lend a hand, because we simply can.

Something I've noticed is people attract things in their lives. People who drive mean looking, powerful vehicles tend to just that themselves. People who drive slower, simpler looking vehicles tend to be more understanding, regular people.

It normal, well, for us anyways.

I do it all the time. Last time I stopped to help was 2 weeks ago. Impala had a flat tire, and I changed it in about 12 minutes.

I met my gf this way, too. Helped a guy find a tire in the middle of the night, towed people a ways for free, and have had a $20 literally balled up then thrown into my open passenger window by a lady whose money I would not accept for a changing a flat (AAA was due to arrive in another 50 minutes).

It just shows that you are a good person, and enjoy helping for shits & giggles (probably because it IS an automobile). Worst thing that happens, in proper safe conditions, is get turned away. In other conditions, well, people are scared and outside drivers are reckless.

And I don't think it's a Ranger thing at all, really. It's either a "car guy thing" or a "kind person thing."

I sure hope someone would genuinely help out my sisters or gf if I can't get to them first. Kharma, baby.

The other day i watched a suburban plow a honda, first thing i did was use my truck as a barricade to stop traffic from hitting them again and helped them out of their cars, made sure nobody got hurt.

When arrived in Calgary the first thing me and my friend did was help out a cabbie change a flat that was seized on the hub. And we helped out many people whenever we went for a drive, just the way we were raised I guess. I hope if I'm on the side of the road with my hazard on and hood up someone of a like mind will come help me.

Well... around here everyone stops for everyone anyway, its just common courtesy, though typically only people in pickup's and big rigs stop...

its wierd that this thread popped up today. last night my friend hit a deer and ended up in a really deep ditch with his 93 buick and totaled it out, he called me and he was in a panic, almost in tears by the sounds of it. keep in mind its about midnight when he calls, and the first thing i do (besides put pantss on) was jump in my dads super duty and rush down the road to his rescue. so i get there, pull his car out (what was left of it) and as were sittin on the road waiting for the tow truck alot of cars passed by. and i thought to myself, what is wrong with people!!?? i was raised to stop and help people when they need it, i have stopped countless times to pull people out of ditches in the winter. and these people didnt even have the courtesy to slow down and ask if were ok as they drive by a smashed up car in the middle of the night!

people are just ignorant nowadays.

Last time I really remember helping big time was last winter when some girl spun her escape out on an offramp into the ditch in the middle. she was talking to AAA when i knocked on her window "this thing got 4x4?" she only had AWD but whatever so i got in and pinned it down the ditch thru the snow and up over the other side back onto the road.
that sure saved her alot of time waiting for that damned tow truck. also I always keep straps in my truck to tow people out. last winter when I was driving my Rwd diesel Mercedes I still got 3 tow recoveries lol.

I know some people that are pretty major pricks that drive Rangers.

There are nice people that drive about anything, same for jerks.

If I can, I always do.
It is a car/truck guy thing.
And maybe its a New Hampshire thing too.

i was coming back from cleavland TN on the 4th of july this year and seen a 93+ ranger with hazzards on so i put in it reverse on the break down lane. his truck died out so i pulled him till it started he was so happy lol. one other time i seen some kid in walmart parking lot his battery was dead in his ranger. so i hooked up jumper cables....well after 30 mins in the rain and no luck i took out my battery and put it in his got it started then put it back in mine. he didnt even say thanks or anything i was thinking WTF mann
