The "Pup" Truck

whats the latest on this thing man?

whats the latest on this thing man?

Nothing's changed since school let out for the holidays. I'm currently looking for a job up here so other than regular maintenance and fuel, she's seen little use. As soon as I get a job some new aux lights are on my to do list, a winch, if I can find one. But my main goal is to build a 4wd/4ws rig from the ground up. It won't be simple by any means, but when she's built she'll put all those pretty rubicon jeeps to shame. I won't disclose any plans other than the design is based of the Halo Warthog due to the tire size I hope to run and the ridiculously high fenders. Still working on the "how to make it legal" part, but one things for sure she won't be no mall crawler.

New aux lights just came in the mail today and some 1550 lumen led floods are waiting to be picked up tomorrow at the post office:headbang:.

The current lights are going to be 55w fog lamps so they have been relocated onto the top of the bumper since Friday. Hope to get them installed tomorrow before school on Wednesday since coming home at 10 is no fun when you have to go 35 on the 50 just so you don't out drive the headlights. Going to wire them up so I can alternate between flood and spot auxiliary lights with the flick of the switch.

I hope to have some pics of the finished front up by Wednesday but if not and you want to see it, just reply to this post and I'll get the message pronto.

what kinda of LED floods did you go with?

The are sold by Tuff Led Lights. You can check them out on amazon here

Nothing too fancy but they should get the job done. 1550 lumens is fine by my book and I only intend to use them on slower windy roads. I'll get some pics once their installed and try to get some night pics of all the various lights.

Another shot of all the switches.

The blue are disconnected for now until some radios are installed, the silver toggles the flood and spot on high beams, lbar power powers the 'light bar', spotlights are self explanatory, aux one is floor lights, and aux 2 is free for whatever I want to put in.

I have so many switches I feel like I should be flying this truck.

Sorry for the image quality, the camera died and I had to use the Ipod camera.

Took some time last weekend and worked on an in-dash gps system.
It's a Garmin Nuvi 200 from 2008 but still provides the basic road and location information I need. From top to bottom is the Tachometer, GPS, AM/FM radio, and the climate control.

another angle...

Honestly, I feel I get lost more with a gps than without one since I take all these back roads now that I never even knew existed. Who knew:dunno:

Looks good man:icon_thumby: I might have missed it, where'd you get the switch panel from?

update: I'm in the process slowly piecing things back together...

Took the truck to a friends shop once the engine started rapidly heating up. Turned out the water pump gasket had fried, so we replaced that and also put on a new timing belt. the old one was just a few miles short of causing a major headache.

After she was all put back together I went to a training exercise and as I was leaving backed into a pole. Okay, this may sound stupid, but here goes... I back into the pole while I was driving forward! Weird huh!

So I got it home and replaced the now pancaked aluminum bumper with the stock steel, after I repainted it of course. That's when everything hit the fan! I spent the rest of the afternoon being driven to the ER for back pain. That last bolt was just a tad too hard to tighten at the angle I was at...

Anyway, that was almost two weeks ago. I'm still on a painkiller and have to be careful when moving anything. But otherwise I'm just waiting for school to start back up again...

Oh, almost forgot. I found a CB antenna that is magnet mounted on the cab roof. This allowed me to hook up my base station which now resides in the middle of the bench seat until I eventually replace it with a smaller unit for under the dash...

Sorry I don't have any pictures... I have been so busy with other stuff that I haven't had much time to focus on anything other than repairs lately.
