the NOT so usual dash problem

So I have read and researched about the dash light issue with the older rangers. I just acquired a 93 4.0L 5spd. Well the dash lights are not coming one when the headlights are on. However the kicker is if I turn the dimmer switch all the way up( to where the dome and bed lights come on), then the dash lights up perfectly. I breifly check all the fuses and they seemed good. Any thoughts on this?

I had the same problem. It is the headlight switch. The reostat that controls the dash lights isn't making contact like it should.
