The needle for my tachometer broke in half

Really weird but the needle for the tachmoter gauge broke in half. The guage still works but is just doesn't reach over to where the numbers are. I don't need a whole new gauge. If I go to a u-pull lot and get a needle will it just slide out and then back in my original gauge? Thanks.

I toyed with pulling the speedo needle off mine last weekend to paint it, it didn't come off easy. I didn't get after it too hard out of fear of breaking something but I didn't get it off.

The gauges come out individually on my 93 not sure about the 88 dash.You can check when you go get a needle each gauge pops out on clips works real easy.

It might be easier to pull a cluster and swap over your odometer (if you care about accurate milage). The needles are pressed on, but being plastic, should come off with enough force carefully applied.
