the little pris that couldn't pic inside look

I only knock hybrid owners that buy them for the wrong reasons. If I lived in the city I think a hybrid would be a good choice. But I don't, so the benefits of the hybrid start to come down drastically. I can get 36 and better in my 5 speed Neon when I need economy. And honestly, if I could have my Jeep run on batteries and have a minimum 200 miles range (my commute is 100 miles roundtrip), with a 15 minute or less charge, I'd be all over it. Of course, that isn't going to happen anytime soon. But I do like the idea of a plug in charged electric.

Nope the buyers of hybrids that get them to save the Earth, hell, let them spend their money. Does it hurt you? No. Does it entertain you? Sometimes... Do most of them seem to be a tool? Maybe not most, but a lot of them are. And there are some I get along with quite well.

At least some folks are getting snow. I just got rain'd on from my commute back home. All this while freezing cold outside, wet, and riding the motorcycle.

From the photo, I vote to say that it is a Corolla. Maybe the owner didn't want to chance it driving through 18" of snow. Some drivers here think 6" is really a lot. 6" is only when the fun begins.

I apprecieate the machine, but not the majority of people that ignorantly drive them treating them like any other car. You can pull some serious mpg out of them just have to actively drive them.

I would like to get some mileage driving over them. Would be nice if those pricks would drive the speed limit or get the Fuuck out of the way. I have only seen a couple drive the speed limit, they must be watching the mileage screen and not the road surounded by a cloud of Smug. I'll keep my 18mpg and never fill a landfill with batteries, thank you very much.

Eh Gods, the utter nonsense the green brigade spews out on a daily basis!
As a ‘Green’ Collar worker in the oil and Gas business, (yes I said that right, we too do our part!) I'm constantly amazed at the stupidity of most 'green' initiatives. No one seems to ever look at the bigger picture. Just look at the mess ethanol production has caused. Never mind the marginal (at absolute best) net energy return, look at what it's done to corn prices in the poorest countries in the world. People are literally starving to death in sub-Saharan Africa so the wealthy green left can save their consciences by using less demon petroleum.

Then there's the 'look at how much money those rapacious oil companies make!' argument. Do any of you greenies out there have a bleeding clue what the capitol expenditure necessary to get that black stuff out of the ground actually is? These are the largest companies in the world, employing literally millions of people in total. Their profits, when viewed as a percentage of revenue, are no worse or better than any other industry. What are they supposed to do? Work for free?

Hybrid cars, now there's another great idea. Any idea what disposing of all those lead-acid batteries is going to do to our landfills? Any idea what sort of pollutants all those battery factories spew out? Sulfuric acid isn't a particularly eco-friendly chemical, you know. God help us that we should replace all the smog on the planet with a blanket of ‘smug’, just so we can feel better about our carbon footprint. (Thank you South Park for that one!)

Oh, don't use that horrible DDT! What are a few hundred million dead malaria patients in the big, green scheme of things?

Get rid of the power plants! They pollute the air! Ignore those starving coal miners, they're just a bunch of Southern Rednecks anyway, and probably Republicans, to boot. And don't mention nuke plants! My God, man, imagine if we built more of those horrible things! The fact that it's statistically the safest form of power generation isn't important at all.

So dig your composting toilets in your backyard and slap those Nile Virus carrying 'skeeters. Drive your over-priced hybrid to Starbucks to get your eco-friendly, fair-trade coffee in the bio-degradable paper cup. Make your own candles and slaughter your own chickens (oh, forgot! You're vegetarian!).

In 20 years, when the economy of the entire world collapses because we haven't drilled a single well, when there’s no electricity because you wouldn't build generating capacity, when 3/4 of the world is starving because all the viable acreage is planted in ethanol producing saw grass...well, we'll all hold hands and sing Kumbaya and feel good about our green little selves……

Sorry couldn't help it.....

I've never really understood all the Prius bashing. It's a Hybrid. Many automakers have at least one. I never hear any rants about the Hybrid Ford Escape.

Yes, the Prius is the ugliest thing on four wheels. But I still don't see why that particular car always seems to be a target.

I'd like to agree with you, but when the high ups give themselves 10 million dollar bonuses, It's hard to believe you.

Also, I am fully aware of what it takes to run a business. Far from ignorant on that basis. However when you over complicate your company with expenditures that are not necessary, you tend to make an ass of yourself. If you can afford multi million dollar bonuses for a few employees, you can afford to improve your company and come up with more efficient ways. You have to spend money to make money, and it seems alot of what they do is ride the gravy train until they have to really act. I'm far from the green movement, however I prefer energy efficient electronics, as well as more efficient computing powered machines. I'm going into computer programming at a tech school because I prefer this. The green movement for me is more geared towards prices rather then trying to be trendy, let alone anything else. If I wanted to be trendy, I'd strap on my Abercrombie & Fitch T-shirt, pop my collar, spike my hair, pick up a scion, and buy an Iphone. But I'm far from it, Lifted trucks, lowered mustangs, No catalytic convertors, Big cams, and Hard rock and country music. Through all of what makes me, me, I'm still fully aware as a person what I should do, because I want to make a difference, rather then just to be cool. I hope to eventually design my own system for self-sufficient homes, starting with my own, in a way to manage power and utilities in order to be independant.

Hmmm. I thought that it was GM and the Banking system/wall street hi ups that did that to us. And yea my tongue was in my cheek as I wrote that.

Almost all of them did. I don't believe theres an honest business man except for Alan Mulally at ford. He sold the corporate Jet, and drove a hybrid to the government meeting. And quite possibly did a bang up job at reinvesting and reinventing a dying company. While GM and the gas companies were patting themselves on the back for nothing with millions of dollars, Alan was working 7 days a week. I admire the guy highly

First of all, hybrids' batteries are not lead-acid. They're nickel-metal hydride. Second of all, who says they all end up in landfills? All of the batteries are either salvaged in the junkyard and reused for other cars, or they're recycled into new batteries.

Take a peek under the hood of your truck. What's that box with two wires attached to it? Umm..I think...that's a BATTERY!! :icon_surprised: Oh my god, your truck is terrible for the environment 'cause your battery will end up in a landfill!!!!

Hybrids' batteries are no worse for the environment than any other vehicle battery. Car batteries are one of, if not THE most recycled product in the world.

No car will save the planet and all batteries are Toxic. Check out this link from how fire departments regard hybrid cars. http://www.cumberlandmaine.com/HR.LF.4.2 Hybrid Extrication Fire.pdf
