The Lightning Returns!

Consider this though, how many F150 owners truly use their truck for "truck things"? Especially raptor owners. :icon_rofl:

Most people use their truck for stuff they could do in a damn fiesta... So if you wanna be clearly practical about it, WHY AM I THE ONLY ONE WITH A FIESTA!? Fiesta drives back and forth to work, truck does truck things on the weekends.

Everyone go buy a fiesta right now!

I very recently looked at buying a small econo box for my commute, about 70miles a day.

I did the math, taking into consideration 18mpg on 93 vs 35mpg on 87. That's about a $2200 a year savings, then subtract the added insurance and other maint. expenses.

Even if I'm saving $2000 a year after all the expenses, it would take 7-10 years to make up the difference for the price of the car. At that point it's probably time for a new car.

Big fan of the front trunk on the lightning, Can be used to store the stuff i normally carry around in the back of the truck, without taking up extra space or getting wet.

The way I look at it a new car doesn't need nearly the maintenance my ranger does, and with barely driving the ranger now except for weekends, maintenance on that is also nearly nothing. Insurance cost wasn't much different since I dropped full coverage on the ranger and went to liability. The fiesta is now paid off and my monthly expenses are significantly less than they were when I only had the ranger. Ranger got about 18mpg and the fiesta gets 40. But yes it will take years to make up for what I paid for the fiesta, and by that time I'll just by another car. The ranger will be forever, the fiesta is a disposable piece of crap though. And though I love my ranger, the fiesta, even being the cheapest one made, is a TON more comfortable driving an hour back and forth to work or on long road trips.

Eh, the last one I hit was thrown across the oncoming lane.

A couple years ago a lady in a car had one come thru the windshield... neither survived.

Yeesh that's brutal.

Moose collisions are baaaaaaaad news, and a relatively frequent occurrence up here. Your pretty lucky to survive hitting a moose.

Right after my brother started turning wrenches somebody hit a black angus bull sleeping in the middle of the highway at night.

And that is how you get the frame replaced on your new Super Duty...

I cant beleive nobody has mentioned this.
GOTTDAM Genius !!!

Hey genius... your link don't work... unless I quote it? :icon_confused:

The truck camper crowd was going nuts over that a month ago.

No question, there are major gaps where electric vehicles don't meet the needs of a lot of people. Long haul towing is one that's going to take a while to eliminate. But there's also no getting around that the number of people's needs that are meet by electric capabilities is increasing rapidly. Range, performance, and charging availability/time are immensely better than a decade ago.

They also don't make a fiesta anymore.
Who is "they"? I make a Fiesta all the time.

fi·es·ta
/fēˈestə/
an event marked by festivities or celebration.

Actually I think I might have one.

Has a 44" deck and a 20hp engine.

You laugh but my stupid fiesta is very peppy and handles pretty well. Putting it in "sport" mode and running around downtown Trenton can be quite fun. The transmission is awful but amazing at the same time, and the car is so light the small amount of power it does have can whip it around just fine. For 14 grand I have zero regrets. My ranger was only slightly less back in 2010 at around 13k. I will never spend over 20k on a new vehicle!

Not sure what is wrong with your transmission but I really like the hydrostat in mine. :dntknw:
