the Lawn Mower thread.

So... I had some Mernards rebate dollars and a gift card from last fathers day. I usually turn my gardens over by hand... I'm just getting to old for all that. So I was looking at rototillers. I have a couple raised beds and this strip behind the house. I settled on a corded model. This little sum bitch rips! I shoulda had one years ago. Took about a half hour for what I would have spent a half day on a shovel.

And yes I wish I had a tiller for my tractor...

9697A2C0-044F-4BEF-A16C-1EA793095D39.jpegused 3point tillers are hard to find, easy to find new but are 2-3 K . Im waiting on my 3-point kit to arrive so I can disc up a spot in the yard, Disc had been apart for a year because I moved, got it put together yesterday and it sure was easier to take apart then to assemble.

You think that little guy was fun, my brother and I changed the bearings on a couple gangs of a 14' wide disc last year...

I've been trying to keep on top of mowing my grass so far but it won't stop raining... .75" of rain yesterday... I have all 14 holes started for my pole barn shop build, they all need to be about 2' deeper but it's kinda gooey right now so can't finish, the kit shows up on the 13th so it's getting closer to being real!

What size barn did you go with?

When I started building my shop a few years ago, it brought on the wettest year we’d had in a long time. If you ever need rain, just get me to start a construction project

My lawn tractor has been getting a bit of a workout this year. I got my hands on a Craftsman GT several years back, had like 62 hours on it and the guy said it had a bad transaxle, $250. Koehler 24hp, 50” deck, automatic hydrostatic axle. I put a new drive belt on it and away I went. It now has AG tires with about 6 gallons of RV antifreeze in them plus 55# wheel weights and a 54” deck and about 165 hours. Been using it to mow my property, pull a cart and pull other stuff lately on a near daily basis. Have a front plow for it and a grass collector too.

Also have a Sears GT-16, old beast. Think it has a bad pulley for the drive belt and some wiring issues but never spent time on it yet since I got it for free since it wouldn’t drive. Someday I want to put some work into it.

Got a tractor when I bought my property. Nothing special, 42” deck, pretty rusty. The neighbor said that he fixed it up several years back and it just sat since. Thinking about trying to get it going just because but we’ll see.

All of the tractor stuff both me and dad have was all paid for by buying, fixing and selling tractors so there is zero investment beyond time. Dad has a Craftsman DYT-3000 with a 48” deck and a Cub Cadet zero turn tractor, grass collectors for both, cart, dethatcher, plug airator, and leaf collector.

That's not a lawnmower. I think you took a wrong turn on your way over to the rototiller thread.

How do you keep the critters out of your garden Craig?
