the knohow to build a turbo 2.3 stroker

what all would i need to build a 2.3 stroker with a turbo? from what i read i can use 2.5 parts to make a stroker, but the stock parts are not recommended? what turbo should i aim for? internals? etc. also what tranny? upgreads for it? im just doing some homework at the moment. i would like to make a ranger with this motor have at least 350HP or a little more then that. id like it to be streetable and run on pump gas too.:icon_thumby:
 
Go to www.turboford.net and start searching.

You will need a 2.5 crank, aftermarket forged pistons, probably aftermarket forged rods. Then you have your choice of blocks and heads. These are dictated by, or dictate your choice of ignition systems, DIS or TFI.

The 2.5 crank wont fit in an old 2.3 block due to having smaller mains. A TFI distributor wont fit in an a 95+ block. The 89-94 blocks use the both the small main crank and have a mount for the DIS crank trigger but also have the provision to put a TFI dizzy in. The TFI dizzy get's in the way of any of the DIS intake manifolds. The intake ports are different between manifolds so you have to use the matching head for each style manifold.

350 HP is going to require an aftermarket engine management system as well. There are lots of options such as megasquirt, EEC-Tuner, twEECer, etc, or just run stock ford ranger EEC-V off a newer 2.3/2.5 ranger and have it dyno tuned for the new engine.

That should be enough to get you going.

well i want to use a stock ECU
 
Then you're going to need a 95 or newer truck. I would just start with a 98-01 with the 2.5 and add forged pistons, forged rods, and moly rings. Get a turbo header from www.rangersrevenge.com (I have theirs and it's been great) and go find a holset turbo. Then buy a good intercooler setup and you'll be well on your way to 350 HP.
