My credo
the grey-t escape
well, it was bound to happen, i work for a company that supplies parts to 3 honda america factorys. due to the obvious stoppage of japan-made parts/electronics being shipped to the states, honda is cutting back big time, may eventually stop altogether in the near future. effective tommarrow, marysville (ohio) and canada are going to 4 hr shifts. east liberty ohio plant is still running normal schedule but subject to change at any givin moment (E.L.P. builds the civic, crv, element) im not sure about the alabama or indiana plants, we dont ship there so we didnt get information about them. tommarrow i get 8hrs, thurs 1/2 day, closed fri. next weeks schedule to be announced thurs at lunch. some lines might not be affected much, others drastically, all depends on shipment orders. seems like if for the most part there going to 1/2 days both shifts, why not just cut back to one shift and let those who dont make the cut by senoirity go on unemployment? the way it looks now, we will work just enough to not be elegible for unemployment. im pretty sure i wouldnt make the cut to keep working, ive been there 3 years now, the place has been open for 11, and i just started working on day shift back in december. glad i dont have any outstanding debt, just monthly utilities and lot rent. i probly need to start looking for something new, damn-i didnt want to have to do this again.

look to work where the holes need to be filled.

one set stops others step up.

Sorry to hear it man. who knows, maybe you'll be a keeper

rather look now for work and make a deal as these guys eventually shall return...

i agree with laying off on seniority and cutting to 40 hrs and maint.

i work at a nissan dealership and its startin to happen to us too.parts are getin hard to comeby and its not getin better

Time to start investigating any favors anyone owes you for other jobs besides where you're at... just in case.

Xandor posted about his new job at usic a couple months ago, now i've got a job with them. Check it out, usicinc.com

Disasters happen, Bro. We all have to deal with it. It is not over in any way. By June Nissan will be up and running over there they say. Chevy, believe it or not has already been hit last month due to the Japan disaster. It takes time to heal.

well, my theroy came true, 1 shift only, day shift hours, option plantwide for voluntary layoff. have until 9 am tommarrow to say "yes" to, h.r. supposed to call everyone by 4 that didnt opt for layoff to find out if they do indeed report to work monday. im hoping enough ahead of me take the voluntary and im able to work. guess im just waiting on the phone to ring. i'll jump every time the phone rings tommarrow.

i work parts at a honda/suzuki dealership.......it hasn't quite hit us as far as parts goes but we're anticipating it :bawling:

When you guys do get parts in, it would be best to scan them with a geiger counter. We already have iodine-131 in our milk here in the states, and the EPA recently quietly changed their acceptable levels of radiation by a large margin.
