The Gas Prices here in puyallup washington suck =(

I got into an argument at a gas station back when prices were high at one point. Pump shut me off at something stupid like $80-100. I complained inside that they need to do something about that and they tried to tell me it was my card that was limiting me. I replied that no, my card doesn’t put limits like that because it’s a business card, I could use it to turn every pump on at once if I need to because that’s the point of a business card, if I need to fill up a crews worth of trucks and equipment, I can. They still insisted it was my card limiting me on buying gas. Some people’s children…

I tried to buy two gallons of gas once at a gas station. Blew the guys mind.

"Two gallons of gas please"

"How much?"

"Two gallons"

"How many dollars?"

"Free?"

"No, how many dollars you want"

"whatever two gallons of gas cost, you tell me"

I had the same problem, Station saying it wasn't them limiting, Bank saying it wasn't them,
Did a bunch of following up on it.

It turns out there is a middle man between the station and the bank, The company that owns the credit/debit card machine/system the station uses and processes every credit/debit transaction is the one that puts limits and also charges the station a small percentage of every transaction.

Some gas stations it’s a thing they can set, I know people that have worked for stations. They can also limit how many gallons instead of setting a high limit for cost. And I know banks/cards can set limits.

Didn’t think about the middleman though, but I would guess that the station could complain to them that the limit needs to go up with fuel costs. I won’t stop at any stations that limit me to $80-100 because when you put $150-200 in a truck in one go, it’s a nuisance. Yeah, I can go in and tell them to turn the pump on, but I just want to fill and go, I have other things to do. Also the reason why if I can’t afford it, whatever I’m in gets a full fill. Yeah, that can rapidly get expensive, but what’s more efficient? Stop once and spend that money or stop 3-4 times and put $50 in each time? My time is valuable and I’m spending the money either way, stop once and move on.
